NYE - Any characters at the resorts?

Just wondering if any Disney characters make appearances at the resorts on New Years Eve? If so , how do I find out about which characters/which resorts/times? We are staying on site and would it be ok if we went and visited characters at different resorts?

Please share your NYE resort characters experiences with me.

I didn't see any when we were there on NYE two years ago. Only at the character meals like Chef Mickey's, etc.
