I know what the spike looks like in the Unofficial Guide for park attendance during Christmas.

BUT- I am off NYE and the 2 days after, we have APs and 1 free night at HIFS soooo I convinced DH, no begged DH to run off spur of the moment.

We will arrive NYE @ 2-3:00pm. Will we even be able to get into a park. Am I completely crazy?

Are there special things going on in the parks for NYE?

I'm scared now that we will be in complete gridlock and DH will kill me!

Can anyone give some advice??

Enjoy the days at WDW. You are not crazy, you are just a Disney addict like the rest of us. That's not crazy!

As to getting in after 2pm on NYE, I would just try to get to the MK as soon as you can. It may be full by 10am and, then again, it may not be full when you arrive. Are you driving or flying? If you check in at HIFS, and then hustle on over to the parks as quickly as you can, that would be a good idea.

Even if the MK is full when you get there, you might want to hang around and wait for it to open back up. Otherwise, if it hasn't opened again by 4pm, I might take the monorail over to Epcot and then try to get in there.

There are special things going on at all of the theme parks, but my suggestion would be to try those two first.

Have fun.

Thanks!! This board always makes me feel better.

We're driving. I'm going to see if there is any way we can leave earlier. It stinks that we lose an hour on the way there.

Does Illuminations and/or Fantasmic have a more elaborate fireworks display for NYE??

Hi crusin'minnie,

Illuminations, I've heard, will have special fireworks for NYE. I believe Disney sent out a note to Epcot resort guests about a week ago apologizing for the fireworks testing. And while the Magic Kingdom will probably be complete gridlock on NYE - I'd be surprised if they're still letting people in at 4 p.m., for instance - Epcot can better handle the large crowds. That would be my choice for NYE.

Incidentally, if anyone is in the MK on NYE and has a digital camera, I'd really like to see a photo of what the area between Peter Pan and IASW looks like around 4 p.m.

Thanks!

Len
