NYC World of Disney Store

Has anyone been to the World of Disney Store? On my trip home from Hong Kong later this month I will have 5.5 hours layover at Newark EWR, since I have never been to NYC I am wonder what WoD store is like, and how far it is from the airport. Will I have enough time to check it out? And how do I get there. Can anyone help me out? Thank you.

It is neat to see, but I don't know that I'd risk missing my flight in order to see it.
The day of the week and the specific time of day, that you have your layover, will greatly affect your decision as to whether or not to try and make it.

OH! Really? It will be a Sunday flight arrive (from Hong Kong) at 2pm and depart ( to Toronto) at 7:30pm. Do you think I should forget about it?

Unless you are changing airlines you can not leave the airport.

I'm not sure that's accurate...I flew through JFK in March and exited the terminal and re-entered no problem while waiting on a layover. Just had to go through security again.

Although I noticed the flight is through Newark and I don't have experience there...sorry if there are different rules over there.

You can leave but need to line up again for a security screening.

Friends had a 7 hour lay over in St Louis and headed downtown for ribs.
Friends with a 8 hour layover at Heathrow spent a few hours in London.

Make sure you have a boarding pass prior to leaving the gate area.

I have been to the world of disney store in NYC and it is definetely very nice. I wouldn't risk missing a flight to see it though. I don't believe the airport is on the subway line and with NYC traffic and such it could be incredibly risky leaving the airport and going into Manhattan. Especially since you would have to clear security again.

We went on Feb 14th of this yr. It was just something to do (2.5 hr drive!) and it was ok but I wouldn't leave the airport for it. That was the last day they were going to ever have characters there which was sad for the CM's but my kids loved getting to see everybody but Mickey.

Okay store..but I wouldn't go through all that to see it! You'd be under pressure to have it all run smoothly.

Guess I better just stick around the airport then. When are they closing the store down? I heard so much about it the pass few years, but I never had a chance to go visit NYC. This is the closest I have get to be anywhere near it. OH well, I guess I just not meant to be there.

I was in NYC at Oct/08. Stopped by the Disney store. It was large but disappointing for me because I was looking for Adult shirts but the entire store was filled with toys and clothing for children.

Hope you have a good time in HKG...we were there about a year ago and had a great time!!!

As for the WoD store in NYC, we were there and though it is a nice store, it is not worth the trip to get there. When we were there, it had lots of toys, kiddie stuff, but not as interesting and full of the variety that the Disney stores at Disneyland and WDW offer. The size is big with multiple floors, but we noticed areas that had nothing there, basically just wasted space.

I guess that if I were in your shoes, I'd be heading to my favourite NY deli instead!!!

Humm that's another idea!! I just don't want to stuck in the airport doing nothing for all that time.
