NYC Times Square Hotel - deals?

Using way too many Marriott points to get a room for two nights at the Marriott Marquis for my wife and daughter. Any suggestions for a good Times Square Hotel at Halloween?

We stayed at the downtown Marriott. I'm pretty sure that this is the name of it. It is right near the Twin Towers. It was not right in Times Square, but we ended up liking that. It is a short subway ride and it was nice to get away from all of the hustle and bustle. I got a great deal on travelzoo. Sign up for this if you aren't. They will send you weekly hotel, airline and entertainment deals. You never know when one can be of use to you. The place was nice and clean.

I will look at Travel Zoo and other sites. We really want to stay at Times Square - need to better understand how to maximize my Marriott points I think.

I used Priceline to book a hotel in Times Square just before Thanksgiving 2009. We stayed at the Doubletree and it was $293.66 total for two nights.

We have stayed at several hotels around Times Square, including the Marquis about 5 times. It is a great location for being right in the heart of things & the view is awesome if you get a good one.

We also really liked the Millenium, which we found on travelzoo last year. It was really close to the huge Toys R Us! And I remember the deal being really good for NYC.

Our fav is the Royalton, which we have also found on travelzoo. It is more of a trendy boutique kind of hotel though.

LOVE travelzoo for those kinds of deals! And priceline has worked as well (can't remember now, but I think we got the Marquis once).

We are looking to go again soon (with the kids this time, they have never been). We live pretty close, so we try to go a few times a year.
