Will they have all the Christmas decorations up? I know the tree will not be lit yet, but is it worth going into NYC to see Christmas stuff?

my grown nieces will all be here in NJ for Thanksgiving and I am looking for ideas on what to do with them (and my SIL) the day after Thanksgiving.
Last year we went to the beach LOL!! The girls wanted to see the beach in the winter!!

Even though I know absolutely zilch about NYC, you realize that's Black Friday, right? :scared:

The decorations/lights may be up, but you may not get close enough to see them. :rotfl:

As many years as I worked in NYC, I was never there on Black Friday. Yes, almost all of the decorations will be up. I have no idea what the crowds will be like. If you go, make sure that you check out the Public Library (if it is open).

DD and I took a bus to NYC last year on BF (special price!).

The windows at Saks 5th Ave were done, the tree at Rockefeller Center was up, not lit until the following week, but there nonetheless, and the skating rink was open.

We spent most of our day at the Musuem of Natural History. It was pretty busy, but I couldn't compare it to any other day. We were going to pop in some of the stores on 5th Ave, but patrons were spilling out the doors (FAO Swartz). We did sneak a peek on the first floor of Tiffanys, but mostly window shopped up to Central Park.

Avoid going inside Macy's Herald Square! We went later in the afternoon and it was still packed. We didn't make it passed the handbag dept before DD felt the need to escape. I mostly wanted to see the big Mickey out front :), saw it during the T-giving parade.

One of the last things we did was go in Toys R Us, just to see what it was like. It was late afternoon, we had about 90 minutes to 2 hours to kill before the bus home. It was still quite busy with shoppers, they had the check out lines snaking through the store and I think we had to follow the "map" to get through the store.

Then we sat out on Times Square in front of TRU until it was about time to get the bus.

Well the skating rink was open in Rockefeller Center when I was there a couple of days after Columbus Day! :lmao: It was about 70 degrees that day and there were a ton of people skating, I think it had opened only a few days before I was there.

The decorations in all the store windows will definitely be up, the tree at Rockefeller Center will be up, but not yet lit.

Just be aware that it will be VERY crowded.
