I see lots of people asking questions about NYC on here. I just booked a Saturday stay at Best Western Premier Herald Square (supposedly a block from the Empire State building) for under $200 (well, just over with taxes and fees).

Apparently it's a brand new hotel (just opened at the beginning of the month I think) and so has some pretty good introductory rates.

I can't tell you anything about quality yet, but I thought the price couldn't be beat for what it looks like, at least! And the few reviews there are on trip advisor are positive.

Might be something worth checking out for some of you.

We just staying in the city last week- I used priceline and bid on a 4 star hotel- I got the Broadway Millennium for 175.00- it was right next to toys r us in times square- it was great because we could hang out in times square until midnight or so and just walk into our hotel!

Also check Travel zoo. We got a great rate on our hotel through them. It was just a block away from Times Square.
