Hi -

My sisters and I are taking my mom into the city this afternoon to see "South Pacific".

The show starts at 3 in Lincoln Center, and we'd like to take her to lunch/brunch before the show.

Can anyone recommend a good spot for us?

ps... we were going to drive in, but I got a construction advisory alert from ticketmaster, and then I heard about the parade today -- so we will be taking the subway from Penn to get around. (downloaded a subway map to my itouch, so I think we'll be okay.)

TIA!!!

Carnegie Deli on 7th Ave between 54th and 55th is good. They have wonderful cheesecake, maybe the best I've ever had.

If you like BBQ, you can't beat Virgil's. I have taken many, many people to Virgils when they are in town - people from many different states and countries - and all have loved it. It is in Times Square: http://www.virgilsbbq.com/

Carmines..the BEST Italian food and waaaay too much of it but great place and within walking distance!

Virgils and Carmines are both much to far away from this show.

My girlfriends & I saw it a couple weeks ago. It was wonderful!!:thumbsup2 We ate at La Boite en Bois. Its at 75 West 68th Street. phone 212-874-
2705. www.laboitenyc.com. It's French and has wonderful food and service. We've a lot of fussy eaters, too.

I mentioned Virgil's because most people go to Times Square anyway, but you are correct if they are not going to be in that area and are averse to subway use. Nothing is far away in NYC if you use the subway system. :thumbsup2

I didn't even look to see where the show was playing..guess I asumed Times Sq. But indeed, nothing is far in NYC especially when subwaying it or taking a cab. Myself, I love to walk and find walking dozens of blocks a non issue most of the time. Does make sense tho to stick to someplace close to the theatre..:)
