Hi There! Does anyone know a good place to stay in NY, NY that is kid friendly? We have 3 little kids (oldest is turning 6) and want to take our oldest to American Girl for her birthday in late August. The other two boys will probably want to go to FAO and maybe the kids museum, but American Girl is the priority.

Thanks for any tips and/or tricks for visiting the big apple with little ones.

TIA!

The rooms at the Doubletree in Times Square are a nice size for Manhattan. Check them out online (hilton.com and tripadvisor.com). They have a king (or queen) bedroom, separate bath, and "living room" area with a sofa bed. Don't know if that will be large enough for your family, but maybe one of the kids could sleep on a cot or you could request a larger room.

If you decide to bid on one of those sites where you name your own price, be careful. We got burned on our last NYC trip. We bid on a 4 star hotel and wound up at the W on Lexington (close of AG store). The hotel was very chic, but NOT kid friendly at all. There was only one bed in the room and the room was extremely small (about 150sqft.).

We did the afternoon tea at AG and loved it! Plenty of food and the kids had a great time. Trattoria Trecolori is an excellent restaurant! Good Italian food. Our kids did fine there. The kids also enjoyed Toys R Us (with a ferris wheel inside) and the M&M store. The Museum of Natural History was a hit with them too.

Have a great trip!

I second the Doubletree in Times Square. It may cost you a little more, but it's worth it to know that you are in a safe place that is nice on the inside. Make sure that you make reservations for the AG Cafe-it's hard to get into sometimes.

Don't accidentally mix up the Doubletree at Times Square with the Doubletree Metropolitan on Lexington. The one on Lexington is horrible!! Dingy and stuffy and my room smelled really mildewy/damp.

don't have any advice for hotels, but we took DD to AG Place in NY for her 5th birthday last year and we all loved it, so much fun! We had lunch there and believe it or not the food was actually pretty darn good. DD went CRAZY, everyone gave her money for her birthday so she could spend it there. Can't wait to take her back, we are thinking maybe late sept/early oct after her first month of school as a reward. Have fun!

Also fyi -- they just opened a new Lego store in Rockefeller Center that you may want to check out!

Thanks everyone. Doubletree in Times Square is booked for that night :(. I will keep checking to see if anyone cancels.

Any other hotel suggestions? I will get reservations for the lunch - thanks for the tip!

There's also a Marriott (on Broadway & 43rd St) & a Hilton (on 42nd St) in Times Square, you could try those. Or since you're going to AG Place, look for a hotel in the Rockefellar Center area. I know there's a Hilton on 6th Ave & 52nd St (I think, it's definitely in the low 50s).

Disclaimer: I've never personally stayed at any of these places, but have at least been in the lobby of all of them and judging by that they are all nice.
