Don't know if any if you know it, but we are at Washington square park in downtown NY lovely and relaxing with a Ben and jerry ice cream. Couple of guys on sax and a banjo very now atmosphere. Ice cream good too. Been almost 90 degrees since we arrived. Gonna head down to wall st and the tribute centre at WTC.

Not a massive city fan, but I could live here there is something about it.

Also gonna walk down Waverly Place, little Disney link there

Washington Square Park is lovely place to sit on a summers day. We collapsed on a bench after walking across the Brooklyn Bridge when we were there!!

Have fun :)

We're off to NYC next year and it's been a few years since we've been so enjoying your updates! Out of interest where are you staying? We've still to book a hotel!

We are staying at the Eastgate Towers Hotel on the East side. Its ok, its clean and tidy, decoration is a bit dated, but we are only really in here to sleep. We were a bit limited because of there being 6 of us, the price is ok, £1200.00 for the six of us for 7 nights, so its not a bad price.

We stayed at the Affinia Shelburne 3 years ago, that was nicer, but couldnt get it this time round and sadly the Waldorf Astoria, is a little out of reach.

The meal at Bubba Gumps was exellent, shrimp, lobster hot sauce and some fantastic drinks. The service was so good too, very friendly and quick.

Off down to Battery Park now, to go on the Staten Island ferry and then over to Ellis island and Liberty island. All of the ladies in the party are complaining about the amount of walking, so we took the subway last night and we will a bit more today.

Update you from the ferry.

Just been on Staten island ferry, the weather is stunning got some fantastic pics of Manhattan skyline from the ferry.

It's almost 95 and we just bought an ice cold pitcher of beer at beer garden at battery park. Pop for kids obviously.

Going to statue of liberty now and Ellis island, then a stroll up towards wall street to hold the bulls ***** (look it up ha ha).

Then a bite to eat at times square again.

Good god its warm

Would def go for the affinia shelburne. Eastgate is ok cause so many of us, but the shelburne much nicer, similar positions so location not much different either way.

This beer is tooooooo good on a hot day.

safe travels to DC Steve!!

yes NYC is a great place to visit (and to live - we lived in manhattan for 3 years many many many years ago - prekids)..

DC is a nice place to visit, but in a very different way from NYC..

DH is originally from DC and he used to think it was the center of the universe...
though i managed to disabuse him of that notion :)

I went to university in baltimore (Johns Hopkins), and i did all my thesis research at the Library of Congress in DC.....i would take the train down every wednesday...i had my own desk there...really an amazing place...but that was centuries ago...actually milleniums ago...

are you driving from DC down to orlando?
i did that with two friends back in my 1st year of university....nothing like a road trip!! :goodvibes

Hi again

We are driving from DC our accom at Disney is from the 7th, this coming Tuesday, but taking the blue ridge parkway we were happy to maybe lose a day from Disney if we needed to. However, I emailed Disney to say although we are due 7th we may not arrive till 8th. I was shocked at their reply. If we don't check in on the 7th we lose it as a 'no show' even though I have told them. It's likely we will be there on time anyway, but it gave us a bit of time if not. I emailed them back that I am not impressed that they would cancel a 7k booking if we turn up late!!!!

Quite disappointed in their attitude to be honest.

In abacrombie and Fitch in NY, Jesus its loud, its like a club and we lost the kids ha ha.
