Several days ago I posted a thread with my concerns over NorthWest changing my return flight....

They offered me a week to decide if I wanted a full refund on my tickets (something I was very impressed with!) however after some serious research I simply could not beath the price I had...for a few hours difference...

I spoke with NW today & they advised me that the reason the flight was cancelled was the lack of scheduled airpassangers for the end of September...."there simply is no one booking flights" & all flights are "wide open"...

NW states further that it is highly unlikely, unless people start to have an upsurge in bookings (this is the off season for flights) that the later flight would be re-instated...but if it is and I catch it they will return me to my original plans with out a charge...

Kinda makes you wonder if with circumstances like this if prices will drop more???

Might want to keep an eye on NW!!

Good luck,

Dan

Oh yeah,

I have been checking january fares out of Mpls since January and they haven't dropped a nickel!

Fingers crossed!

Glad NW is being cooperative with you. They should be!

herc. - keep watching, I don't think drops are far away. NWA finally dropped their early December fares by $51 per person. It's still insanely high at $322, but it is coming down. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of it.

I finally got it confirmed that my charter flight was cancelled - it seems they had the same problem as axelf in that the flight was wide open. So I am being accomodated on NWA flights with the simialr flight times.

Obviously, the airlines haven't been able to get people to fly. THey think it's 9/11 - which to some extent is probably true - but the prices they are charging make it prohibitive to fly for families going on a vacation.

I agree with you. I'm not afraid of flying, but I don't want to pay the prices NWA is charging. I think we are typical of the leisure/vacation travelers that have to use the MSP airport. Security hassles since 9/11 and the economy are no doubt responsible for the decline in business travel, and I know the airlines need them to stay profitable.

Glad your problem worked out.
