NW just changed our flight for the second time and we lost 3-1/2 hours of Disney time! Earliest flight out of Detroit is now 10:20 a.m. This is the second time they cancelled a flight for this trip and this time they split our family of 5 up to three different areas!! I am so upset. I guess I better call Rabbit at Yourride and let him know he can sleep in!

soccer mom,

You didn't say when your flight is. It may change 3-4 more times. It is better to wait until a week or 2 before your flight to get the final flight info. All airlines will be making changes in the next few months that may affect your flight.;)

What ncligs said....I agree wait until you are within about 10 days....With the airlines in confusion right now....I think there may be more changes....

Our first flight was 9:15 a.m. (earliest flight offered on line when we booked). They cancelled that and switched us to 6:57 a.m. (even better!) Then they switched us ( to 10:20 a.m. arriving at 1:00 p.m. (2:00 at resort). That's half a day of a short trip wasted.

We decided to skip turkey day with the family and we're flying out on the 28th. If they mess with that flight I won't care, we'll just plan to hang out at the BC no matter what time we get there (BC is the only resort I could get for the 28th).

Same thing happened to us only our first flight was 7:20 then 6:57 and now 10:20.

Time to talk to your agents . . .

1) NWA is changing some flights.
2) However, there are alternativres.
3) These are listed on the website and with confirmed space.
. . . Northwest through Memphis at 6:37 arriving 12:05 Orlando
. . . Northwest through Memphis at 9:00 arriving 3:40 Orlando
. . . Northwest through Houston at 6:30 arriving 2:00 Orlando

(NOTE: The last is a Continental flight that Northwest can book)

I thought it was just us.

We've gotten two updates for our mid-November trip, but both have been 3-5 minute adjustments. Now, c'mon. In the Wall St Journal today, they said NW had a 77% on-time rating, in the last two or three slots of the 10 airlines they charted. How is a couple of minutes on the official schedule going to make any difference to me?

But so far, I'm really thankful we haven't had the trouble others have. (Fingers crossed, fingers crossed, ...)

Slightly OT, but we are flying NW in October from Boston to Las Vegas. The time of our outgoing flight had been changed 4 times since we booked, and last week they cancelled our connecting flight (Detroit to Las Vegas) and that was the last flight out of Detroit to LV for the day. So...NW wanted to put us on a connecting flight that took off an hour BEFORE our flight from Logan arrived!!!!!!

The rep at Expedia was GREAT, got us re-booked connecting through Minneapolis (and only leaving 10 minutes earlier) and even got us on a later flight leaving Las Vegas.

I guess the moral is we all have to pay attention in the weeks and months to come until the airlines figure out what they are doing.

I just have to say that NW changing alll these flight times seems so odd to me. I live in Mpls and travel to Ontario CA a lot and my mom does that trip 3 to 4 times a year. Thye have had the same exact two flights to and from for years--even with all the confusion those two flights are always exactly the same time to the minute! Maybe that's a perk--may I say the ONLY perk--of being their hub!

Well..... two days later, I'm back. They moved our outbound flights up by 4 hours. A minor inconvenience in that we have to look a little more at arrangements for the kids earlier that day, but much better in that we don't show up at ASMu after midnight!

I'm guessing it's not the end of the "adjustments."

As some other posters mentioned, with the airlines cutting back due to the financial situation combined with how some of the majors are restructuring their hub setups you will probably see a lot more flight changes in the months to come.

We just got changed for the third time. This time our direct flight that we paid more money for turned into a flight from Orlando to Memphis to Detroit. It still leaves Orlando at the same time so we don't loose any more time than the 3 hours we already lost going down. But we had an extremely bad experience one time with a connecting flight that ended in an all night bus ride from Cinci to Toledo. Were trying to avoid that again!!!

While I know the airlines are going through adjustments, it seems odd to me that they punish those of us who are still flying!!!

wld,

That is terrible! I can't imagine having to use a connecting flight! We might as well drive if the whole flying process is going to take 11-12 hours! I guess I won't complain!
