Given my girls won't ride scary roller coasters yet, but WILL ride things such as Teacups --

Can you provide a brief strategy for what we might like to hit at DL in one day as well as CA? thanks!

Go buy, or check out at the library, The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland and follow the "Dumbo or Die in a Day" touring instructions in the back. It's the best resource I've found yet for negotiating the Disney parks. You can cross out those things you don't want to do, and then head over to CA Adventure in the afternoon and hit some highlights there (Soarin', Bug's Life, Muppets, and Monsters Inc, as well as the Animation Studio and Turtle Talk with Crush).

Good luck--you'll have a VERY full day!!!

I'd hit Fantasyland first and get Peter Pan, Dumbo, Mr. Toad, and Alice done early. Then I'd go over to Tomorrowland and grab a FP for Buzz and maybe ride Autopia and Star Tours. Cross the hub to Adventureland and possibly get an Indy FP (depending on what your DDs want) and ride JC, HM, and PotC. Then ride Winnie-the-Pooh and maybe spend time at Tom Sawyer Island before taking the train to ToonTown. Tour Toontown if it's important and finish your day with any Fantasyland rides you may have missed the first time around (Snow White, Pinocchio, Storybookland, Casey Jr.)

At DCA get a Soarin FP first and go over to the Monster's Inc. ride. See MuppetVision and Disney Animation w/ Turtle Talk and return to Soarin. Ride Grizzly River Run if your DDs are up to it and then tour Paradise Pier, riding the rides that you choose. If Flik's Fun Fair is important, hit it at the end of the tour.
