I want to lose weight and I think this might work.....what is your opinion of the program? Is the food really that terrible?
Thanks

Hey samjktrasher, I haven't done NS but I want to say I appreciated reading the other thread from last year that you posted on. It seemed people had good success there. I've always thought about doing NS and my Bro in law actually bought the stuff but never ate it. I was just afraid I wouldn't like it and then it would be a waste of money. So I'm doing WW instead. It's slow going but it is going.

Good luck in whatever you decide!!!

I just started it today! Carnberry Orange pastry: good. BBQ chips: good. Asian noodles for lunch, alright. 2 cups of milk, check. 4 cups of water, check. salad, check.

I got the custom plan because there were foods I just didnt like. I'm keeping track of the foods, incase I continue on it and get another order.

So far I'd give it a thumbs up. If you send me a pm with your email, I can get a coupon sent to you before you arder.

I ordered it from QVC just to try and see if I liked the food. Unfortunately, I didn't. To me, it all had the same weird aftertaste. But, I have a friend who lost 50 lbs with NS and swears by it.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

I am considering this myself. I could lose 50 pounds, but have never been able to stick with WW past 1 or 2 months--the kids get busier and I can't make meetings, and without the meetings what is the point?
I used NS after DD#1, which was in 1992--but it was successful. I used Jenny Craig after DD#2 and WW after DS and neither was as successful. The local NS franchise closed in the meantime, but I guess it is all online now.
I am going to price this out. It is the kind of thing I need--structure.
***BTW--anyone have any idea on pricing, or if you have to commit to more than one month at a time?

BUMP--it seems as if this board is slanted toward WW, but it does not work for everyone. Is there anyone who has done nutri-system who can give information on price, success, details, etc?

I just want to let you know that I'm doing WW online (not going to meetings) you get the lecture online and TONS of other "tools". There's a huge data base of restaurant food and their points, a recipe calculator (plug in your ingredients and it figures out the points for you)- a weight tracker, an exercise tracker- tons of message boards- really the list goes on and on. It's cheaper than going to the meetings too.

My Mom lost lots of weight on Jenny Craig years ago- but unfortunately gained it all back when she went back to eating "real" food.

I'm in my third month on Nutrisystem and I've lost 21 lb so far.
It costs about 10.00 a day for me now with all the fresh grocery add-ins but that is less than we were spending on junk food!

The food is not gourmet but you can add your own small touches to it.
I had to be honest with myself...I gained weight on fast food and junk food that didn't really taste all that great either! There are meals that I prefer [and love] and there are meals I don't like. I just don't order the ones I didn't care for. There are some really, really yummy desserts!

This works better for me because I am learning about portion control and eating healthy. And I need the ready-made meals when I have to work late or am just too tired to make something. The laziness and lack of motivation to cook was killing every diet I tried.

Food update. be sure and customize your order. Do not order anything with "shake well" in the instructions, or the eggs. These things come in those foam cups, like cup-o-noodles and I have yet to have one I like. And the caramel corn snack is like cardboard.

Still most of my food has been pretty good.

Have you lost weight on this program yet? I did it for a month after I had DS and only lost 5lbs. and after a month of the yucky food I gave up :sad2: .

I've lost about 6 lbs in two weeks, so I think its working. My good days and bad days seem to directly relate to how much water I'm getting. I dont have too much to loose, so I'm trying to decide if I want to do it for another month. I'm thinking that i will see how I'm looking at the end of next week.

Congratulations on your weight loss. That is a good amount if you only have to lose a little. I would like to lose 20 lbs. but can't seem to lose this after baby weight no matter what i do.

I lost 35# back in the late 80's with NS in 2-3 months. It cost me $1000. The food was not great but I was determined to stick with it and lose. As soon as I went off I started to gain it back. I was not prepared to eat real food not in a package. So sad really. I gained the 35# back plus more. :confused3

I lost 25 pounds on NS back after I had DD#1, and didn't gain it back until I had DD#2 3 years later. The other plans I have done since have not been as successful. In fact I have decided to do NS again, at least through July.

I did NS about 2 years ago and in 3 months I lost 20 lbs. The food really wasnt bad except for the pudding. I did go off and in 3 months gained it all back. The thing for NS for me was that you dont learn portion control or control on your own eating. Your body gets adjusted to what you are eating that when you go off and eat somethign else your body LOVES it. This past summer I just worked out ( the Firm) and ate healthy for breakfast, lunch and snacks with not toooo many calories and then ate a normal meal with my kids and lost 40 lbs. in 3 months. I have been off since the summer ( started up again today to lose the last 30 lbs) and I didnt gain a single lb. back:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Everyone is differnt with different taste and for me I refuse to give up a nice dinner. Good luck on what you decide to do.

I'm doing NS now and have lost 14 lbs in 7 weeks. Slow but steady. It already equates to 1 sz smaller clothes. I originally ordered from QVC, but when I reordered, I ordered directly from the website and customized my order. The food isn't to bad, but I do have my favorites.

I love the lemon blueberry dessert bar with a cup of decaf tea at night. Yum
