Ok guys... haven't been here in quite awhile but I need help. I have gained close to 30 pounds over the past few years and need to lose it. I have been "trying" to do it on my own for the past year and I have come to the conclusion that I cannot do it alone.

I was always big boned (god, I hate that word  ) but it's the truth. On my wedding day (see picture below) I was 180lbs. I was a size 10 at 5'10" and 180lbs... I really am big boned :teeth: . Anyway, I did really well on Atkins.... kept it off for several years but in all honesty... I'm tired of it. I cannot get motivated to do it again. I need controlled portions of exactly what I can eat in order to succeed. Once I lose it, I can easily maintain.... again, I have done it for many years. I was a runner but had to stop because I have really bad back and neck issues. I have since started walking again and I am hoping to get back into running but I need to lose this weight first... I'm desperate.

I am looking at Jenny Craig and NutriSystem and I'm looking for anyone who has experience with them  .

Thanks... as always :goodvibes

have you considered Weight watchers? that is all i have experience with and love the program. check out their website i think it's just www.weightwatchers.com, i have it in favorites so i don't know but a google search will locate it i'm sure

i would suggest you look closely at their food plans and pick one that feels like the 'easiest' one for you -- also consider convenience of weekly meetings b/c there will be weeks it may be hard to get to them so don't set yourself up for easy 'outs'

but - you know -- you are no longer on the journey alone -- you have WISH and we are here to support and encourage each other. so now matter which plan you choose, we'll be here! we can do this together! WISH is my home page and has been for three years, reading and posting helps me stay focused on the harder days and i have read lots of really enoucarging stories to help me remember it is possible and it will be done!

ONWARD AND DOWNWARD!!

I said the same thing last month, Icould not stick to a diet on my own. I went to Jenny craig and signed up for the 20lb. for $20. It worked very slow and the food is expensive. But that said I thought the food was pretty good and you get a dessert everday. I only lost 8 lbs. in 6 weeks. So now I'm on my own doing weight watchers for the last 10 lbs.
Anyway what is good about Jenny Craig is you have a weigh in weekly and meet with your counselor to talk about the diet and they are helpful. The meetings are one on one at your convenience. I don't mind the weight watchers meetings but the times were never convenient for me. Last year I tried Nutri System and quit after 2 weeks. I could not eat the food it was nasty IMO. There were maybe 2 meals I found edible. I lost about 5 lbs. so I know it works if you can tolerate the food. I agree with the previous post you should sign up for 5 for August. It will be and easy goal. Good luck to you and let us know how your doing.

I started Jenny Craig on May 7, and today I am down 29.4 pounds! It has worked for me because the food is good. One thing that is different than WW, is the counselors help plan your menu each week, and the portions are controlled. For the first month I stayed with their food and never felt deprived. Since then, I usually have a JC breakfast and lunch, but I eat a regular dinner, just smaller portions. It's true, the plan is pricey. One week's worth of food runs about $100, but it covers all your meals. Also, the weigh ins are more one on one than WW. They took my picture and measurements the first day, and next week they'll do it again for my halfway to goal. My hope was to lose 30lbs by the time we go to WDW, on 8/22, and looks like I'm going to make it! Good luck with whatever you decide.

Your wedding picture of yourself of 180 is beautiful. You look great!

I've used NutriSystem two times....after babies #2 and #3. I love it. I must love it to go back to it to lose the weight after baby #3. I lost 50 lbs. the first time and 65 lbs. the second time. I do want to add that the 50 lbs. I lost the first time was not baby weight. I had been 50 pounds overweight for about 5 years before I had her. She was one year old when I started NS in 2002. It was pretty easy to lose the weight and keep it off, so I decided to use it again in 2005 after baby #3. After #3, I didn't waste anytime getting started. I restarted NS about 3 weeks after she was born. My starting date was March 31, 2005 and I weighed 200 lbs. I was down 50 lbs. by the end of August. I lost another 15 lbs. by Thanksgiving. I stay around 135 now.

I even got picked to go to a NutriSystem photo shoot just last month. They do one or 2 shoots a year. Only 20 people were chosen and for some crazy reason, I was one of them! It was an all expenses paid trip to Philadelphia for 3 days. Plus, I got to play dress-up! Maybe my before and after pics will end up in some magazines soon....who knows?

Here are my before and after pictures. I was 200 lbs. in the before pictures and the afters are from the photoshoot in July when I weighed 135 lbs.

Anyway, definitely check out the Bulletin Boards on the NutriSystem website. You'll find lots of support there.

Best of luck to you. NS is a great program. You've made a great choice.

Hi! I am doing Weight Watchers but have turned it kind of into Nutrisystem/JennyCraig. What I do is go to my meetings weekly- but for breakfast and lunch I eat one of their frozen meals. Some are not so good, but some are very good! I don't mind eating lasagna for breakfast :teeth: Then I plan the family dinner and count the points. I did get tired of all the planning and counting so this really works for me! The meals are under 2.50 many are under 2.00.

Wow you look fantastic! I might actuallt have to give NS another try after vacation. I still could lose 10-15 lbs to get back to pre baby weight. NS should definately use you in their ads. hopefully they will pay you for it.

Thanks so much! It would be cool to see my picture in an ad. They only had about 20 people there for the photo shoot, so maybe my chances are good. I don't know.

They brought all of us to Philadelphia for an all-expenses paid trip. They paid for absolutely everything....food, airfare, mileage to/from my home to the airport, etc. They put us in an incredible hotel that is considered a "four diamond luxury" hotel. Heck, I'm lucky if I get to stay in a 2 star hotel, much less a 4-diamond! :rotfl2: Anyway, it was a wonderful 3 day trip to a city I had never visited. I bet some wonderful people. I got to keep the dress they had chosen for me for the photo shoot, plus they paid each of us $500 for doing the shoot. So, even if the pictures never get used, it was still a "win win" situation for me. I would do it again in a heartbeat if they'd ask.

I see that you're from TN...I am, too. What part? I'm in West TN.

Good luck!!
