I can't even believe I'm asking this (it's a vacation, right - who cares?!!), but does WDW or any other site post nutritional content for food at various restaurants?

The picture of the lobster/sauce/burger at the Grand Floridian made me thing of it - OMG, looks delicious but I can't imagine how many calories are in that!!

Perhaps this is why you can walk miles and miles at Disney, but yet come home to find that you gain weight!

It would help if I could spell.....NUTRITIONAL information for WDW!! I've googled it but haven't had much luck.

Others have asked this before, and the answer, from all I can tell, is "no". For some on the "disabilities" board, it's a real sore spot.

Some of us with special diets for medical reasons fall into the "who cares" category, and for us, Disney has a department that handles special diet requests, and does it pretty well. You can contact them at specialdiets@disneyworld.com to get the process started.

In my case, it's pretty simple - as a cardiac patient, I need to eat low-fat. Others with more complicated conditions have to make more detailed arrangements.

Thanks for the link - I don't have any specific health issues but can appreciate that there are many others that do. I'm just curious to know . . .I'm always amazed that some things that you think are healthy turn out to be some of the worst offenders!

My (skinny and young) husband was just diagnosed with some serious cholesterol issues. So, he has been seriously watching his diet.
With pretty much diet alone, together we have gotten his numbers into a safe range very quickly.

Some general tips for any eating out to picky 'healthier' options.

sauces often mean fat...order them on the side (this includes dressings)and use sparingly.
cripsy or crunchy usually means breaded and fried

avoid red meat options and fried options.

Look for roasted or grilled items.
Look for green vegetables instead of starchy ones like potatoes (that also often have creams and butters added).

It is a real shame that Disney doesn't have nutritional information. But, some basic self-education can help you to make the healthiest choices. At least Disney does seem to make the Chef's available to talk to you personally about dietary needs when you request it.

I happen to do a lot of cooking from scratch, so I know what goes into a lot of things. Sometimes studying cookbooks (Disney has serveral editions with their recipes) is more help than nutrition books.
Self-education is always helpful when there is nobody else around with the answers.

I love your answers! Yes, this for me is so true self education!! To be honest however. I look forward to all the unhealthy things.(Crispy,crunchy. butter, creamy) Vacation to me, means a time to indulge.
