Nursing mom...WORRIED

I am one who has gotten rude comments at disney for nursing however I am nursing twins who are not good at latching on so there is a lot going on when I nurse and it is very obvious as I have two of them to get through and they don't stay on and block me. So while I have gotten rude comments I think it was more because of our situation not that most people would make rude comments.

Oh, that stinks! I hope you were able to just let it roll off when it happened. As cool as I am about it much of the time, confrontation always leaves me a little edgy.

I don't know where you read about negative bf experiences at WDW, but I have NEVER had a problem. I nursed all three of mine, with never a look or rude comment. I nursed on benches, in restaurants, on rides, in shows, and even in lines :). I was discreet, so it's not like I flashed anyone.

We travel a lot, and Disney has always been 100% bf friendly!

As for the woman turned away from a baby care room, she wanted to use one of the only two nursing mother chairs to bottlefeed.

I'm okay with it now, and it doesn't bother me when it happens now (yes they are still nursing at 20 months) But when it did happen when they where infants I really did lose it, for me it was frustrating because I couldn't get into the bcc, and had to nurse out in the park - as they needed to nurse NOW, so it was a combination of things.

The sad thing is that the only time I've gotten rude comments is at Disney :sad2:- once at Disneyland, once at WDW and a few times on the Disney cruise. I've gotten some looks from time to time other places but never any comments.

I've never had trouble at Disney and you are permitted BY STATE LAW to nurse in comfort--even if that means, no cover on baby and incidental exposure of that body part when latching on or off.

I don't know why women would be turned away--you can nurse anywhere at the baby station...in the nursing room OR in one of the comfy chairs. Disney cannot legally require anything more of you!!!!

Florida law does not permit anyone anywhere to refuse to allow you to nurse. Now if the center was overcrowded and they were turning everyone away...that would be different.

I've been nursing (not continuously :rotfl2:) in Florida since 2000 and am well versed with what is legal and what is not and I have never ever ever had a problem and if anyone dare say a word--they'd realize real quick that they made a serious mistake.:thumbsup2

I was turned away because it was too crowded, and all the chairs/rockers where full.

Just find a small quiet space that's out of the way. If someone happens to come your way and you are nursing, at least you attempted to find a "corner". Any mom knows how stressful it is when you've got a hungry baby! I would keep a lightweight cloth on hand for just in case, but I'm pretty sure you'll be okay!

P.S. the walking trails at AK were a nice out of the way place and the scenery was nice!

I have a nursing 6 month old that feels the same as your baby.. when its time, its time, and if I place a blanket its a wrestling match! I bought a couple of those belly bands in neutral colors of black, white and heather grey, and I wear them now all the time. They look like a layer under my tops, so when I lift the shirt, there is no belly showing. I can lift my shirt for access, and you can't tell unless you are really looking. Even my other kids cannot always tell. They ask is she eating or sleeping. it works really well for me

Just piping in to echo what everyone else said. I only used the BCC if I was right there or if I really wanted to get into air conditioning... Nobody has EVER made a comment to me about NIP.

This. Do what he needs, and have fun at WDW!

I nursed my 17 month old during our "model seder" at DS7's Hebrew School today! ;) I will "whip it out" anytime, anywhere, anyhow, if my kid is hungry...and I've never owned one of those cover-ups either. Guess I've just got no shame! :rotfl:

Don't worry, enjoy every moment...it all goes by too quickly to worry about what other people think. You are doing what is best for your baby and that is far more important than what others may think about it. I really miss those days with my little girl.

I nursed my first child for 4 1/2 years and my second child for just short of two years. I nursed them EVERYWHERE and I never went to hide in a bathroom or a baby care center, and I never put a blanket over their head, and I never had ANYONE say anything at all rude to me (and I never flashed my **** to passersby, either). Don't worry or be stressed about nursing in public at Disney.

Just had to add my two cents. I nursed at Disney and like most of you, I never had a prob. I used BCC when near enough and theatres and dark rides and non dark rides and... BF is a beautiful thing. Kudos to ya for doing what's best for the baby. Don't give any attention to rude! Have Fun! :thumbsup2
