Over my many years here on the dis, I have seen postings from many members who are nurses. I've asked nurses questions, have had them answered. I've seen others ask questions, have seen them answered. I've seen nurses give advice, opinions, thoughts, suggestions.

And over my many years of being alive, especially in my later years now, I have had many personal interactions (currently, sometimes I think too many, ha) with nurses. Today, there are so many different kinds of nurses... CNA's, LPN's, RN's, APRN's, NP's and many more, including many sub-specialties. And not just female nurses, as in years past. Many males nurses helping people today also. Most often when I have an interaction with a nurse these days, I generally ask what 'kind' of nurse they are, Just interesting to hear a bit about their careers, etc.

Anyway, this week is set aside for you all, National Nurses Week. Thank you all, for all you do, every day, every shift. For all you have tirelessly (and tiredly) done over the past three chaotic years, an immense thank you. Just a big thank you to you all for all you do, everyday.

As the theme this year says----

Nurses Make a Difference, Anytime, Anywhere-Always..

When I was in Cooper Hospital for major surgery in 2016 and 2020 the nurses there were outstanding. They went above and beyond what's expected of a nurse and took such good care of me. I never forgot their kindness and willingness to help. Thank you to all nurses, everywhere!

Thank you for all the nursing professionals of all levels who have taken care of my family.

Specifically lately my father. He has had health struggles. His last being a stroke. The visiting nursing aides (I may be using the incorrect term and I apologize) who helped bathe a war veteran in his 80s with dignity to the RNs who managed his care and communicated so kindly with my mother while he was in the hospital before he came home. I will forever be grateful.

And to the chemo nurses on the peds oncology floor when I was sick. And the floor nurses who kept water guns in their uniforms and ordered Chinese food or pizza for us kids who threw up all day and got hungry at night, I will never forget you even almost 40 years later. I still remember many of your names.

You all do God’s work. And we appreciate your kindness, patience, and dedication. You have been through the worst few years so please take time to care for yourselves. You are appreciated. Even if sometimes it doesn’t feel that way.

I can't say enough good things about many of the nurses
who have taken such good care of me my many times
in the hospital.
