I checked and saw a time pop up for a dinner reservation for Le Cellier during our upcoming stay. The problem is there is only one available for 4 people, and we technically are 5. The guests would be me, my husband, my parents and my 2.5 year old son. Do you think they would mind if we showed up with the 5 of us on a 4 person ADR. My son will not be eating a separate meal and can sit with one of us if necessary. Thoughts???

It's never wise to count on it. Even if they can technically squeeze five of you at the table, there are a number of reasons they may not allow it, including building capacity and fire code violations.

It has nothing to do with just fitting an extra person in. It has more to do with things like head counts for fire codes. You can try to see if you can get an ADR for 1 at around the same time and see if they can place you all together or keep checking if something else opens for 5. Otherwise, you can attempt to just show up with the extra person, but don't get mad if they won't seat them.

Did you try searching for a party of 6 instead of 5? Showing up with one less person isn't a big problem but adding on certainly can be. I have had luck getting a table for 3 reservation even though there are only 2 of us, they have never said anything when we showed up with only 2 people.

Every person counts, no matter how small. You are a party of 5, not 4, and as such you may have one person who won't be seated. Le Ceiller is so popular that the odds are really against you. With 5 people instead of you will need a different size table than the one they are thinking you will need. They won't even consider sitting you at a table for 4 and letting you hold your little one on your lap.

Your best bet is to get an ADR for 5. If that doesn't work you can show up with an extra person, and you may get lucky and all get seated, but it is by no means a given. And you probably shouldn't expect it to work. Sorry.:guilty:
