I have 15 MB's on my MDE and 8 are active. Five of them I have blinged and I want to bling a sixth one with a Christmas theme. Is that too many to have at once?

If they are all yours in your MDE account, they are essentially all identical (electronically), essentially clones of each other. This means that although you have 15, they are all the same to the system so you could use any of them interchangeably.
I don't believe that there is any limit to the number that you can have since if they are all registered to you in your MDE account, digitally you only actually have many copies of the same one.
Hope that makes sense.

thanks! Wasn't sure if they would start to get glitchy if I had too many active ones. ;);)

Let me just say that during my last check in at CR, the guests in front of us had over 30 active MB’s and it was causing issues with their account. The CM spent quite a bit of time trying to get it straightened out. Not sure if this is a normal thing at such a high number but just FYI.

My DH and I each had 18 MagicBands and multiple cards from AP's and parties. We've had some glitches with all those bands, even though I never had more than about 5 or 6 active at once. The biggest mess was trying to get into our room at the BC in July. The CM had to spend a lot of time loading the bands that we had brought. I don't know that the problem was but I later read that the resort door locks load all the MB numbers into their memory, and that can cause problems. I don't know if that is right or not, but I decided to call the IT dept and have them delete all of the old MBs and cards that we never intend to use again. Now we are down to about 5 or less MB's and we didn't have a single glitch during our trip last month.

I have something like 15 MBs all active and I have no glitches with them. I’m 100% with Robo on this one. CMs like to call glitches the fault of MBs. If it were the problem it wouldn’t be a glitch and there would be no one like me with no issues.

I don't like losing vacation time to WDW's glitches, so I personally prefer to err on the side of caution, but that's me.

If you want to modify the bands at home and use them to decorate, I see no reason why you shouldn't.

While at WDW, I prefer simple.

A case of trying to solve a problem by choosing to “fix” the wrong issue.

But, if the issue is of concern, just inactivate the oldest MB(s) that you no longer intend to use.

See Robo's comment above.
Their systems have issues. MB aren't the cause of them. Dealing with them won't be the fix of the issues. They may be a bandaid for the moment but the issues remain.

I read Robo's comments. :) But our experience has been a little different, for whatever reason. ;)

I made all my old ones inactive, but they were piling up. I do decline most of them now. At checkin, the CM said, I like the way you made so many inactive, nice & tidy. I said, I wish I could delete them, because I have discarded them, they are gone. She said she would do that for me, I said delete all the inactive ones, please!

My family and I each have 15 bands and three cards, all listed in MDE as active and none of has ever had any problems.

Our CM at the concierge desk in Poly told us that it can cause issues and he said it is better to limit the number active at one time. I always just keep 2 active. I've never had issues either way.

Well, I have probably 15 MB on my account and I always have some kind of problem with my MB not being able to open our door at various points during our vacation. My DH has about 3 on his account and never has problems. I have also been told by CMs that having a lot of active MB causes problems. I went though and deactivated many MBs but I keep my limited edition/character MBs and one of each color active so I can color coordinate my outfits. I have thought about removing some of the MB from my account depending on which ones I want to take with me and then adding them back on but I'm always worried that something will go wrong and I won't be able to add it back.

I have about 8 MagicBands and cards in my account. I've started declining them and also deactivated all but two. Even then, during my last stay, I did have an issue with my door. Luckily, the front desk sent me a text before my room was ready as the system had proactively flagged that there was a problem. They manually programmed just one MagicBand to work with the door.

I'd like to have the old ones also permanently deleted from my account like @Wood Nymph did. They're just cluttering up my account right now.

Do the resorts accept MagicBands for recycling? I'm not really sure what to do with old ones other than discard them.

Old thread.

I swear I saw a sign in the Frontierland Trading Post saying there was a limit on the number of active MagicBands (something like 5 regular & 5 Limited Edition or 5 old ones and 5 2.0s - can't remember). Disney's website said there's no limit, so either that has changed or it was wrong.

As far as activating and deactiving - it's incredibly easy to do, and can be done in seconds and through the app. We did it a bunch of times our last trip when our son was misbehaving - he'd try it at the room door and we'd say Mickey shut it off. Then we'd just turn it right back on from our phones.

For awhile - I had many active bands - and yep - I, too, had room key problems (but they all worked for entrance/FP/paying). Now - I inactive the ones I'm not bringing with me (I typically only bring 2) - and haven't had any problems since. It's not the "bands" themselves - its software that can't always get it right.

DH had problems at the tapstyles at MK with one of his bands in November, it had to be reactivated as he was told that it had fallen off because he had too many on his account. :confused3 It didn't take too long to do, but it was a stall nonetheless.
