Numb in arm?

I have a question, for the past year or so I have had occasional numbness in my right arm. Sometimes I have those little pins but more often it's just a funny numb feeling. And my hand seems colder than the other. Does anybody think that it's anything to be concerned with? Or do you think I'm just using my mouse too much and I shouldn't DIS so often?

This numbness comes and go and I am starting to worry. I wonder if I should go to the Doctor or if I am worrying unneccesarily?

TIA

You may have a repetitive motion injury. When I use my keyboard in the wrong position, my arm will begin to hurt really badly, and it has gone a little numb at times. Using your mouse in the wrong position can be even worse. Your keyboard and mouse should be at 90 degrees to the floor, even with your wrists, no higher or lower. My keyboard tray tilted toward my knees, not my thighs, it has made a world of difference. My employees that complain of carpal tunnel have repositioned their keyboards and mouses, and it helps a lot.

DH has carpal tunnel syndrome and gets those same symptoms. I get numbness due to my MS, but the whole cold thing makes me think of DH's carpal tunnel. Go see your doctor and have him check it out. Treatment may be as simple as wearing a splint at night, but you'll never know until you see the doc. Good luck.

Believe it or not, it could be your neck.

A year and a half ago I was sitting at my desk at work and three fingers in my left hand went totally numb. I thought it was from doing yoga the day before, but I know left arm numbness isn't good so I called the doctor.

After an MRI they discovered I have Cervical Spondylosis which most Americans will get sometime in their life (50% have it by age 50, 70% by age 70) but some NEVER have symptoms. I'm only 37 so they think mine may have been from a very old injury.

Basically what it is, is osteoarthritis in my neck and where the bones are deteriorating causes the discs in between to bulge and pinch a nerve that goes down into my arm. I had physical therapy and now I have a home traction unit and must use it to keep the pain at bay, but if I neglect it the pain gets worse. The numbness gets better or worse sometimes but it's always there at varying degrees.

I would make an appointment with my doctor if I were you. It's worth checking out to find out exactly what it is that is causing your symptoms.

Do you get occasional numbness anywhere else? My MS was pretty predictable but I know others that the numbness would change almost daily. No matter what I would go see a doctor and if it doesn't get any better get second, third, etc. opinions. It took me four doctors until I was correctly diagnosed! Good luck!
