 HI EVERYONE, WE JUST BOOKED THE GOLDEN EAGLE CATERMARAN EXCURSION FOR OUR 10/16/04 TRIPFOR MYSELF . DW,DD9,DS7, AND DD5. MY WIFE WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THE "NUDITY MAY BE OBSERVED " LINE IN THE BROCHURE.
HAS ANYONE "OBSERVED " ALOT OF NUDITY ON THIS EXCURSION, OR AT THE BEACHES.

I do not know if this is your trip, but at Key west we were on our verandah looking at the sunset and a boat went past with everyone on it in the nude and making movements to ensure you saw everything.

My kids had a laugh about it, but someone could be offened.

The captain of that boat ensured he got as close to the Magic as possible.

A small piece of netiqutte - caps lock is equivalent to shouting, thanks.

You didn't mention where you were taking this excursion, but I think it's on St Maarten. Some of the beaches on St Maarten are clothing optional. Might be next to one of those beaches where they have 'beach time' for the tour group.

DS, 16 was hopeful, but never saw a thing, other than the warning.

Regarding all caps, don't sweat it. If I were using my work computer, this would be all caps, we can only type in all caps, that's all we use at work. Rather have you particiapte than not just because of all caps.

We were on the Golden Eagle Catamaran, which, I might add, was one of the highlights of our trip. We did not see any nudity. During the boat ride to beach, though, the captain of the catamaran told us there is a possibility we might be "exposed" to nudity and to turn away if we might be offended.

I have heard other posters mention some nudity on Orient Beach.

So, Andrew, y'all got mooned watching the Key West sunset, eh? Not too cool considering all the kiddies on a Disney ship. What will folks think of next.

We were on this excursion 2 years ago, and when we were on the beach, the "Nude Cruise" boat pulled up, anchored and everyone went to the beach to set up their umbrellas and such. My kids did not notice until we were pulling away and they all started to wave at us.

My kids were 7 & 9 at the time and I didn't make a big deal about it.

I just told them that some people do not like to wear clothes and they were like EWWWWWWWWWW.:p

I believe there is a nudist colony at one end of Orient Beach so if that is where you are headed I would think there is a possibility. That being said I have been to Orient Beach and we did see nudity but my children are older teens and early 20's so I was not concerned.

Which port is this Orient Beach? We are going on the Eastern next month and would rather my kids not encounter something like this. We are stopping at Antigua and St. Thomas (so this one won't be stopping at St. Maarten).

I have done the Golden Eagle and would rate it as one of the best excursions I have ever experienced. A great time for the whole family, really.

I cannot recall the beach that we stopped at but it did have a significant amount of nudity. If you go to any beach in St. Martin, you're probably going to see some.

Orient Beach is at St. Maarten and it ranges from a "usually fully clothed" end to a "almost certainly not clothed" end. We visited both ;) but without the kids. I will say as you get farther towards the latter, there are less and less children about. In the middle section more than 90% of the folks are clothed and you may occasionally see a topless woman.

My kids would have thought nothing of it but we chose to do this beach trip on our own and spent St. Thomas as our "family" day

we did the golden eagle this past july and found this to be a great excursion. however while we were just floating around on the noodles that they provide another catamaran pulls up about 100ft away from us and everyone on it was stark naked, except for one lone woman who had on her shorts and a bathing suite. most of the kids on the boat with us didn't seem to really take note of all the nudity as they were too busy playing. alot of guys and some girls did seem to be looking over that way though and some even taking pictures.

We've done the Orient Beach excursion a couple of times on St. Maarten. The nudity is no big deal and kids that we saw didn't even pay attention to it. My DW and I walked down to where the Nudist resort is and removed our suits (in the water of course so no one could see) and swam nude. This is something we had never done before and we found it quite refreshing!:earseek:

Having seen plenty of "bare bodies" on our local Nudist Beach at Brighton, nothing you see in Key West remotely bothers us! In Europe, the sights you see on some beaches are "scarey"!Nat:Pinkbounc

Orient Beach is on St. Maarten.

The nudity you see on the island usually isn't the "Playboy" type - beautiful air brushed models. It's the real world where everything is saggy and baggy. And if those that are nude have been there for any length of time, they are so darkly taned that they are as attractive as a piece of old leather!!!

There was one exception that my family noticed while at Orient Beach. There was a tubby white guy down the beach from us that thought it would be neat to go neked. He exposed his parts "where the sun don't shine" and forgot to use any sun screen. We saw him from behind and he had flaming red "cheeks". He became a poster boy for why you need to use sunscreen while outdoors. Don't know how he managed to sit down for several days:o

Sorry that this is off topic slightly, but I Laughed  so hard at this post... You know that had to really hurt, especially if he was a little hefty. Living in FL you learn to NEVER underestimate the power of the SUN :sunny:!!

It was very close, and I am sure all of the people facing West in Key west port had an eyeful. I think the boat in question did its uttermost to get close to our ship, ( possiblly because its Disney) and encouraged everyone on board male and female to strip and flash their bits.

Now you have to understand I was using my camcorder to film the wonderful sunset at Keywest from the verandah, but, I have a pritty good close up of this boat.

My familiy wasnt offended, but I think some people would be.

Well, that was certainly one for the family film show Andrew! Was that by any chance the Halloween cruise 2 years ago? We were actually off the ship watching the sunset from a charter boat but my DD's friend's mother was also filming the sunset and got the unexpected extras!

That's the one!

If you know the 'outkast' pop single hey ya, the chorus goes...

Shake it shake it shake it, like a Polaroid picture, funny it reminds me of this boat!

Looking at other posts, at least its warmer than Brighton

:smooth: :hyper: Thanks everyone for your responses, we are looking foward to this excursion. I told the wife I would keep an extra sharp eye out for any nudist so I could tell the kids which way not to look!!!! lol:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:
