Well, we got home on Wednesday night and there was an orange cat in our backyard. He came running over and practically leaped into DH's arms. He was purring and rubbing against us and tried to follow us in. Of course, we fed him...Got up on Thursday morning and he was still there and crying like mad to be let in. I got anxious about him being outside because we live on a REALLY busy street.

I tucked him away in my bedroom (we have two other cats), and he spent the day there. We brought him to the vet to see if he had a micro chip...I called several vets and the humane societies to see if anyone had reported a missing cat matching his description and no one had...I called the neighbors to make sure he wasn't any of theirs...I posted on Craigslist and another website...No responses...So, DH is taking him this afternoon to get tested for kitty leukemia and kitty HIV. If he's clean, we'll let him into the "general population" with the other two.

He spent the night in our dog's old crate with a blanket, a litter box, food and water, and was crying his head off to get out! I keep reminding Morgan that his owners may still show up, but she's already attached. He's incredibly friendly, and he's very well taken care of, so I know he's someone's pet.

Here's a picture of the pretty boy. Any suggestions for names? DH likes Rex, like T-Rex, because he's about 3 times the size of our other two cats. Morris is too typical :)

He looks very much like my kitty, Lucky, who originally came from somewhere between where I live and where you live - maybe they're related!

I hope you get to keep him!

He's gorgeous! I have a red (female) Maine Coon, and reds definitely have more fun!

You know he is your's when you name him. I hope he gets a clean bill of health and can join your brood without any complications. :grouphug: Goliath there might want to be the alpha male of the group :scared1: - not fun.

Keep us posted. :goodvibes

Goliath! That's a good name. We're trying all different names to see if he responds and so far, nothing.

DH just called, blood work is clean and they "gave him a deal" on the rabies shot since he was doing the right thing by keeping him. $87 later, here's hoping we get to keep him!

That would be funny NEE :)

Awww...what a beautiful cat! :) I like the name Rex and I hope you get to keep him!

Jill

p.s. We got all 4 of our cats from the Milford Humane Society!

He's beautiful! I like both Goliath and Rex. Which name feels right when you call him?

Jennifer, he is so handsome!!! I have a thing for orange cats. Ours was named George and lived to be 18. I can see why Morgan would get attached to him...Keep us posted (and more pics too:goodvibes)

Well, Dan had christened him "Buddy" by the time I got home, so Buddy it is. I prefer Rex to that, and I really liked Goliath, but whatever, he's got a name now!

He seems happy. I think he's a morning wet food eater (and we're nighttime wet food feeders), but he'll get used to us, I'm sure.

I spent the night at the library (Girl Scouts overnight, I can barely see I'm so tired), but Dan said he jumped up on his chest around 3:00 am and slept on him.

He doesn't seem bothered by the other cats at all. They are doing okay. The female is not the nicest cat in a "good" mood, but Meezer seems to be handling it well. Well, aside from not sharing his toys that great!

Buddy is a very handsome boy! I like orange cats. My first orange cat was Squirt and DH and I had her for almost 21 years before she died. That cat had a personality. I can't say it was a good one, but she was fun! Our current orange kitty came with the name Nigel and it fits him since he's a bit of a wimp.

I'm glad everything came back clean on Buddy and I hope you get to keep him. It looks like he knew what he was doing when he chose you guys for his new family!!!!

He is really cute. He looks like our foster cat Moe. But, Moe is not that friendly, he was chased with a shovel in a junk yard (he was feral) when he was young and then lived in a cage (around 8 months) until we decided to foster him. No one wanted him since he didn't like humans but, he is doing much better. He and my kitten are the same age and LOVE each other. (both are orange too!) My other 2 cats could live without him though!:rotfl:

He woke us about around 4:00 am, crying. I think he was looking for food. Morgan has a small fish tank in her room and he loves staring at it...He keeps trying to jump up on the dresser, but it's full of stuff and he'd just knock something over. Alley hates him, but Alley hates everyone, Meezer seems to be tolerating him, and he just wants to play. It'll all work out. I'll take some more pictures of him today. He's very photogenic ;)
