I have seen rumor after rumor of the rehab of the Polynesian concierge building that is scheduled for about the same time as our reservations.

I just got an email saying that the Poly concierge will be "down" from 9/12-10/12 and they are currently contacting all guests with reservations to make other arrangements.

We were supposed to be there 9/19-9/23 with our wedding at Sunset Point on 9/20...we were SOOOOOO excited to be staying at the Poly and concierge...and now all that is not going to happen.

Our first trip to Disney...we must have rotten luck. We have less than 90 days now and I'm not sure what we're going to do...we are now pouring over the guidebooks and trying to make another decision...this just feels really yucky!!! I just don't know what to think...don't know what we're going to do... :sad1:

UGH that stinks!

You may want to wait until they contact you as perhaps they will come in with an offer that you cannot pass up on a different resort??? I hope it works out for the best!

if you look at allearsnet.com it looks like they may have some rooms at the contemporary done in the new style. Check out that and see if it interests you. Other than that, I really like the Grand Floridian or the Y&B Club. Just some ideas.

Yes, definately wait for them to contact you. In 2003, I was booked for the POFQ when they closed the resort for rehab. Although I knew about it ahead of time, I waited until they sent me a letter asking me to call about my reservation. In the meantime, POR had become booked up, and they could not give me the resort I wanted, so they offered me an upgrade to BWI for only $33/day more. It was a fantastic deal. I'm sure they will give you some kind of offer... but if for some reason they don't, I would argue with them until they give you one.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I did forward the information to my coordinator.

My fear is that reservations will not be contacting me because they have no record of my reservation because I booked directly through Fairy Tale Weddings. I called the reservation line last night and she couldn't find my reservation.

The folks at the Polynesian concierge desk DID find my reservation but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed in how this has been handled so far.

***sigh***

I’m so sorry to hear this, and I can certainly understand your disappointment. When they call to move your reservations, I would reiterate that it is your honeymoon. You never know what pixie dust might get thrown your way. At the very least you should be given concierge level accommodations at another resort. The Grand Floridian has a lovely main building concierge level called the Royal Palm Club. Also, we enjoyed our stays at the Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge and BoardWalk Inn concierge very much.

uhh, i'm so sorry to hear this. i know how disappointing a set back can be. hopefully it will all work out, i'm sure disney will try to give you similiar/like accomodations to the poly concierge at another resort or you could probably switch to a deluxe poly room or suite (just w/out concierge).

if you choose another resort the grand floridian concierge & suites are nice & only a monorail or boat ride away from the poly and the animal kingdom lodge is also very exotic feeling, we had a great time on our last trip there & are staying again during our final planning/tasting session in november.

best wishes, hope your wedding & disneymoon is still magical!

fyi if you dont stay concierge you should start making advance reservations (previously ps') for dining & reservations for tours, etc. now

Thanks for the suggestions...we are actually considering the Boardwalk Inn concierge now...can you tell me more about it?

The GF one looks "okay" but the cost is like 4 times as much! :faint: Not sure if it's worth it. DH2B didn't seem as excited about it. BWI looks a bit more comparable to the Poly GVC but I feel like I don't have time to do as much research on this one before I "have" to make a decision.

Sure, no problem! The BoardWalk Inn concierge level is a portion of the top floor of the resort. There is a set of double doors that separates the concierge level from the non-concierge rooms on that same floor. You just use your key card to get access to the concierge section.

The lounge is intimate and luxurious with overstuffed sofas, large chairs, and nice furniture. There is also a TV in the lounge and a desk staffed by cast members that are happy to assist you with anything you might need during your stay. The lounge serves food all throughout the day (just like Poly concierge). Breakfast is pretty standard throughout Disney’s different resort—bagels, muffins, fresh fruit, dry cereals, danishes, etc.. During the middle of the day they have cans of soft drinks out, as well as lemonade and tea and water. They have cookies, popcorn, golfish crackers, M&M’s, etc. In the evenings they serve appetizers like spinach and mushroom stuffed phyllo triangles, etc. In the late evening they serve wine and cordials along with a variety of delicious little mini desserts. You can see the top fireworks from Illuminations from the balcony of the lounge. I hope that helps some!

If the GF is more to your liking, I think I would see if they would offer than to you at the same rate you have for Poly concierge. There’s no guarantee that they would do it, but you never know. If you think the BWI is more your thing, then I see no reason why they couldn’t switch you over there.
