I posted here last week that "friends" of my sons got into his VMK account help themselves, by trading to their characters, as it turns out over 100 of his items (at last count or least that's what's been returned so far) .We reported them, changed passwords as you all suggested, set him up with a new character and now he is banned (NOT THEM) for 10 years-someone please explain the logic in this to me. I do not let him play without me right there so I know other than being devestated he did nothing to them in return I am at a loss -now what do we do -it states the computer is banned so does that mean he can use another computer and get on??? We wrote to VMK, we used the report button on VMK and yet they aren't banned and he is-I just do not get it??? Help-Any answers, suggestions????

I just responded to this on the other thread, hope it helps!

It said "this computer is banned" so the only thing I can think of is that someone else was on the computer and something happened but don't they have a way of seeing who was using the computer????? There are many after school groups that meet in my classroom , where this particular computer is and many of those kids are known VMK players some of which were involved in the "theft" of all of my son's items but we are still at a loss. I especially liked the way you termed "writing to the black hole" ain't that the truth-for a Disney company you'd think they be on this! Silly me!!!!

Wow this is all happening in a classroom?

Once a computer is banned for 10 years, you'll have to use another computer to log into vmk.

Good Luck :)

It's not banned at the computer level, but the IP address aka "internet
connection" level.

If the "classroom" is in someone's home, then the entire home is banned.
I'd make sure there is no access to the computer at that point.

And the letter to the black hole could state the chain of events.
If the original poster states which VMK titles were supposed to have
access, and which accounts were "guest" access from those who caused
trouble, the problems may or may not get straightened out.

I'm not sure how the whole IP address works, but last year a girlfriend got the whole IP banned at my home for a week on one of our computers. By the suggestion of someone here, I was told to unplug the modem and repair the internet connection and was able to log in just fine from our second computer. Under my name that is, which was not the one banned.

hanks for all the advice and suggestions-the girls that took my son's stuff were on my classroom computer during girl scouts after school ( I talked to one of the parents who serve as leaders and they said the girls told them it was ok to use the computer-it was for a project...I give up) and whatever they said or did must have caused the ban of the computer....seems like someone should be able to check the time logs ) Yes I have written several letters begging for some kind of help-nothing and no they were never warned, banned-nothing in spite of the fact that it turns out they did this to others as well. I'm not sure about the whole IP address thing-whether it is just the computer or the school but maybe if the school is banned then they won't be able to get on in other classrooms as well. It makes it hard on my son when he has to be down there when I work down there 8 hours on a Saturday or Sunday guess w'll have to bring the Game Cube-lol I read the post from the kids who also took someone's things as a joke-virtual or not, it's just not funny when you're 10-or any age for that matter-hope someone learns a lesson from this-I know we did. On a happier note thanks to the amny wonderful people who have sent or traded my son's things to help replace his stuff. Dis rocks!( I also posted on the I am banned thread as there were response there too !) Thanks again

How do I repair the internet conncetion? I might give that a try at least in my classroom
