I had a double knee replacement 4 months ago and all is going well:goodvibes:cool1:

Am taking water aerobics classes 3 times a week and have increased my activity 10 fold......

Here is my questions - In the 3 years that I dealt with my knees and couldn't move I gained A LOT of weight:sad2::sad2:

Which do you find will work better - Weight Watchers or counting calories.....looking for a lifestyle change and not sure which way to go........

The less complicated the better it will be to get started and get in a "groove"

Thanks for all suggestions!!!!!!!

I really like weight watchers. It teaches portion control which you will hopefully utilize forever. Counting calories is good, but just b/c something is low in calories, doesn't mean its low in other bad things...

weight watchers is doing a free month right now. try it, see how you like it

good luck!

The exercise is going to start some loss (I call it "smallening", as you lose bulk but might not see the changes on the scale yet), and if you were to do WW it would be a really good lifestyle change.

I have a question for you , and I am sure you can understand!! I am in need to two knee replacements, and been as you know, suffering bad 24/7. I am planning on having my worst one done in june. I want both of them done, but not sure I can handle waiting so long to go back to work!

I am now doing water aerobics 5 times a week( and that hurts bad) but I need to get in shape before so I can heal quick! Any advise for me? I am scared about having this done, but look forward to maybe having an active life again!

I am soooooo glad I had them both done at once.:thumbsup2 Don't regret it for a moment!!

I returned to my job (Teacher's Asst in a Special Needs Kindergarten Room) exactly 12 weeks after surgery and except for sitting cross legged on the floor (yes I can get down on the ground and kneel:):) I can perform my job.

The best bit of advice I can offer is to be your own best health advocate - I researched and interviewed surgeons, rehab centers and outpatient therapy places. I am soooooooooo happy with all my choices:worship::worship:

ALSO keep a POSITIVE ATTITUDE and STAY MOTIVATE!!!

I was not able to do any exercises for the last 3 yrs. Gained too much weight and now am paying for it.:guilty::sad2: Try to lose as much weight as you can.....it will make life easier but pure determination goes a looooong weigh.

If you want any specific questions answered you can PM me:)

I've lost 143 pounds on Weight Watchers Online in 16 months. It's a plan I'll follow the rest of my life.

Good luck to you whatever route you choose to become more healthy!

Holy Moly!! Congratulations!

I've finally begun counting points again. Weight Watchers works - IF you follow the program!

thanks so much! I want to have both done but I am thinking of Money wise and my work. I cannot picture being out that long! That is part of my problem with having this done.
I to cannot exercise and every time I do I end up on crutches! lol

I had already lost all or most of the weight, I lost 107 pounds without even trying, that was predinose weight!!n I would like to really shape up the core thou. But even the water aerobics is killing me and hurts me. But I have to try!

I have to make an appointment with my Dr to see exactly what he will do, before I get my hopes up of even to consider being able to bend!! lol
I would just love to be able to walk without a level 15 pain!

thanks much! glad you are doing great!!

another vote for Weight Watchers here. I have been following WW since November 2007. I am now working for WW as a receptionist.

I lost 30 lbs and have been able to keep it off (that's the hard part!)It is a lifestyle, not a diet. I love that it makes it easy to count points, stick to plan and also gives you the flexibility to splurge without completley blowing it all together. Meetings are key for me...I love going to my weekly meeting. They really keep me motivated and on track.

And as someone else already said, until 9/25, they are offering one month free! $39.95 for two months is a steal! Try it!

Seems most of the responses are in favor of Weight Watchers......anyone else?
