now taking bets on how long my neighbor

That's what I was thinking, as well. Lots of people I know never take their decorations down until the 12 days are over. My guess is he'll pack it away today.

Ours came down yesterday, the 13th day after Christmas.
They went up 2 weeks before Christmas.

My issue is folks like my neighbor who put them up the day after Thanksgiving, and take them down the day after Christmas.
I know we're not supposed to get into religion here, but Christmas's origins, despite the efforts of stores, are religious, and the wisemen didn't even get to Bethlehem until January 6.

We just finished taking down our decorations. We leave them for the entire Christmas season as well. We stopped turning on the lights on the 7th. (We leave them on for the 12 days of Christmas + the day of Epiphany)

If the OP's neighbor was no longer inflating his decorations, I get the beef though.

Glad the neighbor cleaned up - I don't think he can be called late this year!

Around here, this weekend is the drop-dead time for putting everything away. Last weekend was New Years, so many people didn't want to let go then. So this weekend is it!

DH took the wreath off the door, and I said I wanted to leave it for another month (it looks more "Wintery" than Christmassy. But I guess it's a crispy critter, so out it goes.

I'm sitting here instead of carefully wrapping all the ornaments.....better get busy :(

You wouldn't like our area. From my window I can see four yards just decked out in figurines and lights. Just on our street I would estimate a dozen homes have Holiday items up and most have lights still up.

Ours will be up till summer LOL. No one wants to find sissors and stand in the cold to pull the wreath off the mail box. The shepards crook decorations.... They may never come down. (the sheprads crook was out to hang bird feeders on or in our case Squirril feeders).

There are more people here that have things still up than have taken them down. Most of the public displays were open through last Sunday. There are many reasons someone may still have decorations up-illness, vacation, extra hours at work, school functions.....

I left mine outside as they were wet and the weather was forecasted to be dry a few days. I don't want a moisture laden clump of plastic stuffed in a cardboard box rotting all summer.
