NOW is the time! It's MINE & I AM WORTH IT! (friends welcome to tag along!!)

 Julie,

Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers your way. I hope you get some answers and relief from these hives soon, Julie!

Back from the dermatologist....she did 2 punch biopsies...one of a hive & another of a discolored area that looks like granuloma annulare which I had about 16 yrs ago from a reaction between a flu shot & allergy shot at the same time. They will call in about 2 weeks with results. She suspects I have the vascular type of hives as there are some areas of residual coloring where hives have been.

Allergist appt is thursday, then get stitches out next Monday.

I've been off Zyrtec since Thursday & the benadryl is making me VERY tired & hard to focus my eyes or my mind. After tomorrow 9 a.m. can't take even benadryl til after allergist. UGH!!

Other than the hives, things are good all things considered. Hopefully I'll get to journals soon.

Julie,

I am glad you saw the dermatologist, hopefully results and answers will be coming very soon. I am so sorry you are going through this. Dd may be onto something with that train incident.

My mom had horrible hives years ago from a reaction to medication and ranked that worse than anything she dealt with.

Hang in there Wish Sis, we are all here for you and praying for you!

Thanks for the prayers, Amy! I'm really concerned about the next 48 hours w/ no meds at all. Not sure if the hives are really getting a bit better or if I am going to be totally miserable. Hopefully they won't get too bad.

I'm still iffy on the FL trip as I want to know the biopsy results before I plan to see about how to treat, etc, & likely won't know til end of next week which may mean DD wouldn't have enough time to ask off work.

I can't believe your trip is only a month away & Tracy is in WDW now!!

More later...

Back from allergist. I really liked her - which is a plus! Unfortunately, I am allergic to NOTHING!! Tested for lots including some foods. And did Asthma spirometry testing and my lung function/capacity are about 50% HIGHER than they would expect for someone of my age/height.

Unfortunately, that means that these are likely the chronic idiopathic hives. Had blood drawn for CBC, sed test, thyroid, autoimmune, etc. Should know Mon or Tues, but she doesn't expect anything out of whack. Should know about the biopsy late next week, too.

Said I should take either Zyrtec or Xyzal 2x a day and also 150mg Zantac 2x day until hives have been totally gone for 1 month. But, my hives have been MUCH less since I went off the zyrtec and even less after the benadryl, so she thinks they are going away on their own & advised me to wait a couple of days & see if I'm not too afraid of a breakout if they get worse. I think I'll play the wait & see game as I'm not fond of drugs.

Frustrating, but even she was stunned that my PCP had not drawn blood when they hives lasted more than 2 weeks. At least she is eliminating things, I truly didn't expect them to be able to pinpoint a cause. My theory - God knows I have them & what they're from & when they will go away. I can just deal with them. (but I'd rather not have to!!
)

Julie,

I am so glad you saw the dermatologist and that you liked her! That is so important and it seems you finally got a doctor willing to take the time to be thorough and sympathetic. You really took the long and winding road to find her but I am glad you finally did!

I am keeping you in my prayers and just praying that the hives are going away on their own. For good.

I think you should go to WDW, but then I think everybody should! Its just such a great time at the World (October that is). Whatever you decide will be the right thing. And do what feels right for Julie and nobody else. Not even me with all my Disney is the Answer for Everything recommendations!

Hope you had a good weekend.

It sounds like your allergist is on top of things and doing all she can to eliminate what the possible causes of the hives are. I'm glad that you found her and that you like her too!:goodvibes

How are the hives now? Sending lots of prayers and :wizard::wizard: your way.

Hope you have a great week ahead!

Hi Julie
I have seen you over on Tracy and Amy's threads and have been following you along. I am so glad you finally found a doctor who wants to help you. Hang in there. I pray you will be free of the hives soon.
Lisa

Hi Julie - i agree with amy & do WDW :)

Hey Julie, just stopping by to say hi and give you a little ! I hope today was good and that those hives are history!

Hang in there friend.:flower3:

Quick update. Life is crazy as usual.

BIG prayer request for my DSis in FL. Her 6 mo mammo was today & after 3 call backs, she now has a biopsy (actually 2 of them) scheduled for next Tues on her 'good' breast. It has been 4+ yrs since the cancer in her 'bad' breast. At her last mammo she had 1 call back & they said they needed to watch an area...well, apparently 'it' is now 2 areas....from her description it is microcalcifications in suspicious patterns.

So, my trip to FL next Tues is off temporarily. DD has things she needs to do & if this turns out to be cancer, I will need to go to FL to help for a short while until my DNieces can work out daycare for the 3 that DSis watches, and for moral support.

Hives? Still have them, but blood & biopsies normal. Not horrid, but enough to be irritating & for me to be constantly aware of them.

Food has been horrific! I won't even step on the scale this week. Ice cream, DQ, chocolate, chips, more chocolate, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, etc. I can't stop eating!!

Off to pick DS20 up at the bus. His car still isn't right since he/we put $5k into a rebuilt engine in it so it is back in the shop again. Losing power, burning oil, leaking oil, coolant on the engine block, etc. They really did a crappy job!

Hopefully more later...... I miss you all!

 Julie,

We will keep your DSis in our thoughts and prayers. We're also praying for you.:grouphug:

Julie, I am so sorry about your sister. I am assuming she had her biopsy was last week, hopefully the results were good. You are a good sister to her, I am so glad you have each other.

Don't worry about the food, just keep hanging in there and know we are all praying for you Wish Sis.
