maybe we should form a club:confused3?

Consulted w/GP Weds, have had terrible period pain/female issues, she sent me in for an ultrasound yesterday.

GP's nurse just called to say, "There's 'something large' very low in your pelvis, you need to see an ob/gyn in Green Bay soon, but your GP's not in until Mon. to call and make you an apt".

AAAARGHHHH!!!

Yes, I know it could "just" be a fibroid tumor, or a cyst, but who knows how long it's going to take me to know:eek: Lots and lots of cancer on my dad's side of the family...

Going to be a looooong weekend.

Sigh.

So sorry to hear that. Hopefully it's nothing. Sucks though you have to wait till Monday.
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Very sorry to hear it. I had a cyst on my ovary that was bleeding into itself and twisting the fallopian tube. Very very painful. It did burst eventually but I still have a lot of pain in that ovary. I hope everything turns out ok.

We had to go get DDs blood drawn last week. She is almost 9 months old and only weighs 14 pounds 8.5 ounces. She was a full term baby and weighed 7lbs 13oz at birth. She is still wearing mostly 0-3 month clothes because most of the 3-6 month clothes are still too big. I am hoping that everything comes back OK. Dr says she thinks DD is just going to be very tiny and petite but wants to do the blood work to make sure there is nothing wrong. I will find out at her appointment on the 7th but I have to wait until then. The wait is killing me.

I guess misery really does love company! I feel much worse for you worrying about your daughter, though, because I know how I would feel if it was my son. DH, always pragmatic, said, "You've been living with this pain for months, what's another few days to find out why?"

Prescription of patience for us all...

Terri

Hope you feel better. It could just be a fibroid, sometimes they can grow that fast.
Why do you have to go to Green Bay, are you closer to Green Bay, than Marquette?

Just think, if it is a cyst or fibroid, INSTANT WEIGHT LOSS :thumbsup2. Hope your news is good news.

I've gone through a similar issue with my ds and wanted to let you know you're not alone. We've had numerous blood draws and have seen a ped. gastroenterolist and top endocrinologist among other specialists. Let me know if I can offer any support or help. Hugs.

Yeah, I was joking about that with the technician, about how I hoped it was a 50 lb tumor so I could lose tons of weight, guess I should watch what I say:laughing: (Don't tell DS--he'll call the Discovery Channel and I'll have a videocrew taping the surgery.)

And I'm going to GB because we're only an hour from there vs two from Marquette. (I'm originally from SE WI, so prefer to go to Milwaukee for everything, but DHs insurance only has in-network providers as far south as GB:confused3.)

I love DH, but his medical knowledge is obviously scanty. I have really bad scoliosis, and he said, "I think your back being so bad shoved some organ in where it's not supposed to be". Umm, honey, the *thing* is inside my uterus, how could another organ have gotten in there:rotfl:

Off to not think about it...

Terri

Misery really does love company. I'm going through something very similar. I am seeing my GYN tomorrow for an ultrasound because I have been in constant pain for about 8 months and if she cant find what she's looking for on the ultrasound I will be having a CT scan to double check.

I too am waiting for results from a pelvic ultrasound OP, so I understand your pain.

2 years ago I had a large mass in your same area. I ended up having a dermoid cyst on each ovary. The one on the right was the size of a walnut, the one on the left was the size of a large grapefruit. I basically had to have a c-section to remove them.

I remember at the time I was TERRIFIED. I thought I was going to die. I had never even had a cavity before much less surgery. I'm still here though, so this time I am trying to be a little more patient, composed, and less scared. It's hard though.

disfan07, good luck on your ultrasound, I'm the biggest wimp in the universe, and I didn't think it was too bad except for the holding of the bladder part. They let me go inbetween the external and internal parts, but I still had to stop a few times on the way home to go so more! (Obviously I was an overachiever on the "drink lots of water" part of the instructions...)

angelhalo, I've been researching on the internet (always a dangerous thing, I know...) and am already thinking ahead to "will they just take the thing" or "will they suggest a hysterectomy" or or or. I had a tubal ligation a decade ago done laproscopically, and thought it went pretty well, so my "pipedream" is that whatever they have to do, they can do without having to cut me wide open.

Thanks for keeping me company everyone!
Terri

I am sorry you are going through this at all. I hope for the best possible (easiest) outcome.

More "bad" news, the nurse (from my gp's office) called today and the soonest the ob/gyn the gp thought I should see can get me in is Oct 11! And she's out of network! There's 22 ob/gyns in GB who are in network for me, so Monday I'll have to run a list up to the gp's office and ask them to pick someone else out and make a call. Grrrr... I am NOT waiting five weeks to find out more about this!

Thanks for all of your good thoughts and my sympathies to those of you in similar circumstances...

Terri

Add me to waiting list. My son has had 4 seizures in the last 9 months, his EEG came back abnormal and he had an MRI today. Now we wait for the results...

I'll say a prayer that everyone's situation works out in their favor :grouphug:

well, I met with my GYN today. I have an ultrasound scheduled for tuesday and a CT scan tenatively scheduled for Sept 7th because she is very very doubtful about being able to really see much on the ultrasound.
If she can't see everything or if it's something more serious than just cysts, she is planning on doing exploratory surgery in december. :headache:

yoopermom--I hope you find a GOOD ob/gyn in your network. Hopefully out of the 22 there will be at least one acceptable one

To the OP, good luck and I hope you can get in with someone quickly. The waiting is the worst.

And to the PP who's baby only weighs 14 lbs at 9 months.....my DD weighed 16lb 4 oz on her first birthday. She wasn't a preemie, had no health issues and I gained 25 lbs during my pregnancy with her She didn't drink 12 oz of formula until she was a year. We had to see a nutritionist at a childrens hospital here who wanted to watch her eat. She wasn't a picky eater-still isn't, she just doesn't eat a lot.

She was, and still is, one of the healthiest kids at her Dr's practice.

Someone posted on another thread that they or a child had seizures and the eventual cause was a thyroid problem. Something to look into if they haven't already. Our twins had seizures after they were born-VERY scary. :grouphug:

Terri, I feel your pain and send positive thoughts you can find another ob'gyn on your plan and get an appt. asap. Having recently suffered with some issues myself requiring an external/internal ultrasound (thankfully nothing too serious) I was lucky to get in within a couple days. However, my GP always emphasizes, if pain ever reaches intolerable point head straight to ER. Sorry, IMO having to wait 5 wks. in pain is not acceptable. :guilty:

Jordans_Mommie, worm761, and others suffering, sending prayers yours and your dear children's testing goes well and your health issues are nothing serious.

Okay....can't resist being added to the 'hurry up and wait' group. Had a routine colonoscopy (whee!) this week due to family history of bowel cancer. Expected the doc to say all is well and see you in 5 years but was not the case. Found a nasty polyp which could not be easily removed at the time. Waiting for pathology and then will need a bowel resection down the line because this is the kind of polyp that will likely turn evil sooner or later (hoping for later :scared1:) and must be evicted. Well colour me surprised and a wee bit nervous. Thanks for letting me butt in and vent and hang in there all you folks waiting for appointments and phone calls.
