Now I'm REALLY confused about possible discounts or freebies and pkg/vs. room only

Hello everyone,

I've tried to read through everything to figure out the answer to this, but I just can't seem to wrap my arms around it. Here's my question:

I currently have a room only reservation for January 19-30 in a Family Suite. I just plan to add tickets when I check in. BUT, if free hopper and/or water parks and more is offered, do I have to book a package to get it? Or will it be available to everyone staying on site?

I'm sure I won't be able to cancel and re-book a Family Suite, since there are so few. So, am I just out of luck? I'm counting on a AAA room discount as soon as I can apply it, and I'm not really counting on the ticket offer, but it would be nice if I can get it. I'm not planning on adding those ticket options if I don't get them free, BTW.

I'm pretty sure if that becomes available you can add the "package" to your room only ressie. I don't think they will have to rebook.....just add it on.

If some offer like free hopper or some other ticket upgrade is offered, it really depends on how disney sells it. If they sell it as a package deal, then you would need to cancel the room only reservation and make a new package reservation. Not sure why but their reservation system can't just change one kind of reservation to the other, they need to cancel and start a new reservation.

Package is Walt Disney Travel Co (WDTC)

You would have to cancel your room only and rebook as a package.
Before cancelling make sure the availability is there for what you want.
Best overall to book the package and then cancel the room only.

However, I was told I could just turn my room only into a package when they come out (AKL CL ROOM Sept 01-12/2009). I am hoping for free dining next Sept. Is this going to be a big hassle? The CM seemed to make it sound like it would be easy.

You can turn a room only res into a package.
That does not mean it will be under the same conditions as a room only, esp when you are essentially working between two different entities (CRO and WDTC).
Even resort and room availability will be dependent on the package you book.
It's not a matter of having a room only res and just adding whatever you wish.

Depending on many factors, including if there is free dining after this year, you should be able to change from room only to a WDTC free dine package.
