Space heater was considered a cause for a HUGE FIRE at a very famous building in downtown Chicago, LaSalle bank building. We are not allowed to have them at all.

We don't allow them, but it's not about fire concerns or electrical overloads. If someone has a space heater near a register (thermostat), it recognizes the heat and turns the cold air up to compensate. It actually makes the situation worse. Having an HVAC technician come out and work on the balancing, and sometimes it takes many visits to balance it, is really the only way to address the problem.

I would be so *%##@! if my employer behaved the way some of yours have in this situation. Sometimes the best way to fight city hall is to move. Monster.com
