In April I spent a few days alone in WDW and stayed on-site for the very first time.. I stayed at Pop Century and was pretty impressed.. I loved the whimiscal nature of it all and especially loved the Disney Bus Transportation..

If all goes well, I'll be going back again with my DD, her DH, my granddaughter and my DD's in-law's.. The in-law's will probably bring their motor home and stay at Fort Wilderness..

Tenatively the plans are to be there right after Thanksgiving and spend 10 nights/11 days.. I'm also planning on buying an AP for myself as I'll be staying in Florida from January till the end of March next year and will only be about 50 minutes away from WDW..

I've been doing a lot of research the past few days and this is what I've come up with.. I know my granddaughter would just LOVE Pop Century, so I'd like to spend 5 nights there.. Then - with the help of some codes (IF they become available) - I'd like to switch everyone over to POR.. (However, if money was no object, I would opt for the Boardwalk Inn - LOL..) Normally we would stay off-site at the place we fell in love with back in 2001, but when I checked their rates for our tenative time period, it was almost as much as the regular value rate for POR!! :earseek:

Just how difficult is it to make these switches though? Would it be much of a hassle?

Also, I'd like to make it my life goal to spend at least one night in EACH of the resorts over the course of my winters down there in Florida.. Think it's possible? Do they even rent for one night (in Jan., Feb. & March) or do they have a two-night minimum? Has anyone else ever done this?

Eventually we'll probably go back to staying off-site again (as a family), but if I go alone - or with one other person - I'd really like the opportunity to try out every resort at least once.. :flower:

They do. We're staying one night at Sports at the beginning of our stay and will be spending one night at Pop at the end.

We did this exact trip in 2003, it was such a great time to go. We also bought APs... I think that's a great plan. You may want to do the math to see if it would be worth other members of your party doing the same - I'm not sure how it works out with the new tickets.

Also, don't forgot that you will get AP discounts, beside possible room rates, on things like some meals and world of disney at DTD, etc.

We also switched resorts which is no problem at all. We spent a few nights at WL. Our last morning there we had bell services take our bags and transfer them to POR. They said the bags would be there around 2 p.m. Then we went to the parks. After the parks we went to POR to check-in and our bags were already there. It was a snap. The only thing that could be considered a 'hassle' is packing and unpacking in the middle of the trip. But when you are there for that long it's not like you're doing it one night after the other.

One thing you should be aware of is if you are booking as a package. Switching resorts effects that since you would technically have two separate packages.

You most certainly can stay for one night (assuming there is availability). DH and I did this at WL following our cruise on the Magic this April.

Thanks! I'm so excited to hear I can do the one-night stays.. That will work out great for when I'm down there next winter.. Can have my sister or a friend come along if they want to and we can split the cost of the room..

Gee - maybe I WILL get to stay at the Grand Floridian someday!! :flower:

Also glad to hear the switching won't be a problem if we go that route.. I love the looks of POR, but I also know my granddaughter would absolutely love Pop Century..

I believe that the rate per room includes two adults so you can bring someone along and share the cost.
