Now Bring Me That Horizon ~ It Begins P115

Oh, TK. I too am an agonizer. And ironically enough also in the midst of a car purchase. Mine is not going well - I've actually signed the papers and they aren't giving me the car (long story).

BUT I will say I agree with your mom, and another poster's grandfather and others that you can't worry too much. One thing at a time. "Stuff" happens- not always at the right moment and hardly ever when we're fully prepared and ready for it. You just have to plunge ahead and manage it. And you will! :goodvibes

I do know what you mean about it being a lot of $$$, though. Gulp. :scared:

I also like the green tea metallic and the new Vera!

Let us know how you make out. And good for you for calling the business manager on his smarmyness (is that a word?). I think I've been too nice with my dealership, which is ending today. Thanks for the inspiration. ;)

Wow!

You definitely need a car. And a Honda is a great investment! You can drive that car for quite some time!

I would buy a color that doesn't match your old one.

And just go with your gut on the color.

Have you compared insurance rates on the colors...I know red costs more on insurance...not sure about a good green color.

Thanks for all of your support for Rachel.

Not giving you the car?

It's true. I'm such a planner. Part of me can be very go with the flow and part of me can be an OCD, over the top, must control every aspect of my life kind of gal.

It's amazing to me how pirate and princess I am. :lmao:

I do know what you mean about it being a lot of $$$, though. Gulp. :scared:[

I know! And no matter how long I put it off, it's still going to be a lot of money.

I also like the green tea metallic and the new Vera!

Thanks!

Don't be nice. Honestly. That's a horrible thing to say, but don't. It's a business, it's a transaction, and as such, you deserve good customer service. I'd like to say excellent customer service but that's so rare nowadays I'll settle for good.

I don't even want to tell you some of the things this man said to me. I felt like we'd regressed to a time when affirmative action didn't exist.

Wow!

You definitely need a car. And a Honda is a great investment! You can drive that car for quite some time!

That's true! And I need to think about car payments not in terms of 5 years of payments, but more in terms of, I'm going to drive this car for at least ten years, and that's five years without payments! :thumbsup2

I would buy a color that doesn't match your old one.

My gut says green tea.

Have you compared insurance rates on the colors...I know red costs more on insurance...not sure about a good green color.

I haven't, but the last time I was doing this, there was no difference. I've actually looked at this car before. :lmao:

Thanks for all of your support for Rachel.

No problem.

I hate everything to do with cars. The maintenance, the payments, the insurance...EVERYTHING. Alas, unless I go live in Amish country I don't see myself avoiding the headache of being a car owner. With that mini rant, I say go for the GREEN TEA, if you have to shell out the money let it be for a pretty color! ;)

I'm right there with you. Not my favorite thing in the world. Love to drive, love my car, don't like dealing with the hassle that goes with it. Although I have a great garage I deal with, so maintenance isn't too bad. :thumbsup2

I agree. I think it's the fact that it's so much money that's making me second guess myself on everything, the purchase, the color...

ugh, cars. I hate my car. Its a Toyota minivan, I feel like such an middle aged mom (which I guess I am - I just don't want to be reminded every time I walk out to the driveway). So get the cute CR-V while you still can - because someday (and its coming soon) he will have friends and sports equipment, and maybe a lil bro or sis, and you too will have to give up any semblence of style. :cool2: But seriously, you'll need a new car, so get what you like and enjoy it. Money comes and goes, you'll always owe something to somebody. Might as well enjoy yourself!:goodvibes

I bought a CR-V some years back. I won't go into details about it. Suffice it to say, I had it for less than a year. . . .

I wish you the best in buying a new car--it's a hefty investment.

Ugh.

If all I had to worry about was the good captain and the black pearl and having enough rum, boy would life be so much simpler. But it's not. Of course, I would most likely have to worry about terrible beasties and sea godesses, so perhaps that would have its own trials.

The problem is that the only car that I really want is pricey.

Actually, it's really reasonable for what it is, but it's the sticker shock of putting that much money down on one item at one time. It means not buying a house. It means having to rebuild the whole savings before we can have another baby. Or if we decide to take the plunge and have another little pirate (because what we need in this world is some more chaos, I swear ;)), it means putting school for me on hold.

My mother says I think too much. That I need to stop thinking about everything and focus on one thing. And in some senses, she's right. I did write a whole chapter not too long ago about not worrying anymore.

And look:

Green Tea Metallic

It's pretty, no? Yes, dear friends. It's a Honda CR-V.

I need to calm down. One step at a time. Take my car back to the dealership, only deal with the general manager, and see what he can do for me. If it's not good, it's not good.

Then what will I drive? :lmao:

listen to your mother :)

Seriously. Think about it. If we all thought that hard and really COULD control anything....there would likely be a lot less little pirates. If you put it on paper, you can never afford 1 and certainly not more than one. But yet, we all figure it out.

I do, very much, believe things happen for a reason and that ultimately, it all works out as it's meant to be. It's just happened too many times for me to believe otherwise. It'd be nice if all we had to worry about was having enough rum. But then truly, wouldn't that get boring?

Green Tea. No question.

So, in light of the fact that there may be no more shopping chapters, I proudly bring to you my first and possibly only Vera purchase for this trip.

It's cute.

It's little.

And it's practical.

It's the Euro Wallet. And I'm really excited about it for a lot of reasons. I got it for an excellent price on Ebay. This retails for around $27, and I paid under $16 with shipping. It's a cute print, it has a ton of card slots, two slots for money (sized big enough for Euros, hence the name), the id slot, and a zippered coin pouch. And the fact of the matter is, I really needed a new wallet. I've had the same Winnie the Pooh wallet for many, many years, and it is adorable and cute and in a sad state of disrepair.

So suffice it to say I was quite excited when my Vera arrived.

So there you have it. A whole lot of angst, a little Vera, and hopefully some kind of happy ending.

Whatever that may be. :lmao:

LOVE the wallet!

And TK, it will work out. When there is a will, there is a way and you have a lot of will, this much I know.

I really appreciate you telling me to be hip and cool while I still can. :lmao: Honestly, that's one of the reasons I like the CR-V. It still feels trendy while being a the family car that I need.

She would be so pleased to hear you say that. :thumbsup2

It's true. Totally true. And I am thinking too much about everything. I need to take one decision at a time. I think a lot of this foolishly stems from my issues with this being a milestone birthday and all the things I thought I'd have by now. But that has a complete disregard for what I do have and how far we've come, and that's just silly. We are very, very blessed.

I do, very much, believe things happen for a reason and that ultimately, it all works out as it's meant to be. It's just happened too many times for me to believe otherwise. It'd be nice if all we had to worry about was having enough rum. But then truly, wouldn't that get boring?

Things definitely happen for a reason. Today was proof of that, but I'm going to hold out on my big update for a couple of days.

Just 'cause I'm pirate like that. pirate:

And TK, it will work out. When there is a will, there is a way and you have a lot of will, this much I know.

That should seriously be my tag. She may love Jack, but she's got a lot of will! :lmao:

Thanks, hon.

I'll go ahead and tell you why I had the CR-V less than a year. . .we got it a month after ds was born. It was the perfect size for a family of 4. 8 months later--yes only 8 months-- we discovered I was pregnant with Boo.

Imagine trying to put 3 car seats in the backseat a CR-V. . .

Impossible.

WOW! I new car?? That's some serious cash! Best of luck to you as you make some decisions!

BTW, I love you choice, Hip and cool and oh so family-ish in a good sort of way. :hippie:

Oh definitely impossible! That's a good reason to need a new car though! I thought perhaps something was wrong with it and my mind was going all sorts of places. :lmao:

Thank you! I am happy to report (for you popcorn slinging folk) that a decision has been made. Hopefully, an update will be tomorrow.

Okay, that was some seriously, really bad typocraptastic work on that last post. I guess my popcorn throwing is getting in the way of my accurate wordsmithing. :confused3

Now, where's that update?? popcorn:: You're on page 3 :scared1:

AKA, TK's new Honda CR-V.

:banana::banana::banana::yay::yay::yay:
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::cool1::cool1::cool1:
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Now where are the pictures, you may demand.

And to this I say, I just got home and it's dark outside. Alas! Do not cry in vain! I promise to take/upload soon! My mother took a ton, of course, but she hasn't gotten them on the computer yet, so I'm afraid I must make you wait.

After much deliberating, we decided to purchase a new 2009 CR-V. It was rather exciting actually. Upon my not so stellar first visit to the dealership, I then on dealt with the manager, who hugely bumped up the value of my trade in, threw in some extras for me, and made the car actually...affordable. It'll still be a little stretch in our budget, but nothing so bad that we can't handle it. And I did have to put down a chunk of change to make our monthly payments manageable, but nothing like what I was thinking before. And that made me so happy. And heart palpitation free, for the most part.

So today, I became the proud owner of my new car, and after driving around a bit today, I decided a few things.

One, I love it.

Two, it feels completely surreal and like it's almost too good for me. I'm not used to all these features and how wonderful it rides and how comfortable it is.

Three, my son's awe over it was priceless.

And four, the car is decidely female, and as such deserved a feminine name.

But something strong.

Something pirate. Something that said I belong to TK and also, I belong to no one!

Calypso, Goddess of the Sea.

A little pirate and a little goddess.

I think it's quite befitting. :thumbsup2

And, as always, here's your ptr tie in. I was actually able to put a portion of my down payment on my Disney Visa.

Can you say reward dollars? CHA-CHING! :thumbsup2

Congrats on Calypso! I think that is the PERFECT name for her. pirate:

Can't wait to see pictures!

Thanks, hon! I hope to get some uploaded tomorrow, but it's my longest work day, so I'm not sure if it'll happen. I'll try my best, though!

Isn't getting a new car really exciting? I can't wait to see pictures! I am sure Calypso will become a well-loved member of the TK family! :thumbsup2

It is so exciting! It's almost like I'm afraid to be too excited. I seriously can't believe she's mine. :lmao:
