I've been having so much fun looking over my pictures from our trip last week and then I started getting sentimental. I pulled out my photo albums and started looking over old pictures from past trips.

If there is already a thread like this, then just point me in the right direction. I tried to search on all the key words I could think of, but I didn't turn up anything.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane through pictures. Some "then and now" shots.

Here's my first visit to US in 1991...

I had to stand on a bench so you could see the Psycho house in the background. That whole area was still under construction.
Oh, and I'm not wearing a crown. That's a wind and too much hairspray combo. :lmao:

Return visit in 1992...

I guess my solution to the bad hair day was to whack it all off? ;)

Another visit in 1993...

We seem to be drawn to the Psycho house. Hmmm....
And aren't I just too cool in my LA Gear shoes with the pink laces?

I like this one from 1995...

And, of course, from last week...

Those pictures of Pyscho house really brought back memories. It's hard to remember what it used to be like but that was the only thing over there and if I remember correctly, there was a sidewalk down off to the side of it that led directly into Hard Rock Cafe. I remember back to the first HHN we went to in 1993 and one of the haunted houses was setup like in the cornfield area with the house as a backdrop and the little hotel was the haunted house (can't remember if the hotel was always there or they built it for HHN). Anyways, thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I think these pictures may be about a month after the Studios first opened. (I wish I had written down the date on the picture) anyways, the blonde is my DD. she was around 9 or 10 yrs old. she is now almost 26, and still Universals biggest fan. :)

Wait, I take it back. we did visit the studios right after it first opened, but the pictures I posted were during our second visit. these were taken on July 1st 1991.

I wish i had taken pictures of the front of US before they started construction of IOA. I remember parking just a stones throw from the gates of US. it is hard to explain to newbies that ALL of citywalk & water just was not there before..
anyone have pics of this area?

:happytv: I might,I will have to dig to find! What I remember the most is...parking close to the entrance and having a nice picnic, and closing the locked van door...with the keys inside:confused:  took the kids inside while dh dealt with security:love: btw they did unlock the door!!Don't think you'll find that these days.As they like to say...LIABILITY!!!:rolleyes1

The Bates Motel was built near the Psycho house and I think it was only used (other than as a cool backdrop) for HHN. I don't think you could go inside it any other time.

The only thing I remember about the sidewalk to Hard Rock Cafe is that it was LONG and used to be shaped like a guitar. Don't know if it still is or not. I think you are right about the location, but that was too many years ago for me to say absolutely. ;)

Here is one of the entrance from April, 1997...

It was cloudy, so you might not be able to see it well... but there is definitely nothing but trees, etc. to the side of the big US gate.

Here is one I took as we left that same day...

That was where construction was underway in the area that is now IOA. We were told by a TM at the time that they were building a Jurassic Park ride, but we didn't know it would be in a whole new theme park!

Does anyone have pictures of the parking lot before the garage came into play?

you guys....i have old pics, but DH has to scan them first....we will work on that tonite or some nite this week..... (i have a pic of us "tailgating" in the parking lot at Studios

On a trip we took 10 years ago this week - June 1997 - it was our DD's first trip to Orlando. She was just 5 years old (now 15). We did mostly Disney parks but did one day at USO. So these are 10 years old now.

This is her in front of the old Nick studios, which was her favorite part of the trip.

And this I believe was taken upon exiting the old Hanna-Barbera ride, which I think may now be Jimmy Neutron.

This was the old Bone Yard. I don't recall seeing this on my trip last year. They had props from Universal movies on display.

i looooveee this thread!! I wish i had some to post but i do not....keep them coming though, it is very interesting!

i have old pics from years ago but took them with a "regular type" camera.

i need to check tech support on retaking them with the digital camera and then post them here.

i have pics of the early construcion days of IOA, starting with when the ground was cleared off.

why didn't i have a digital camera back in those days...:headache:

I Love this thread........I have old skool pics too - just no scanner

will figure something out!!!

Can you imagine- this time in 10-15 years people will be asking for pictures from when IOA had the original Lost Continent and when Universal Studios had Back to the Future.

Savour UO!!!
