I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for which city to stop around 10 hours from my area. Thanks

Is Novi short for Northern Virginia? Assuming that is what you mean by 'your area' I'd say perhaps Jacksonville or Southern GA somewhere?

If you don't get a more helpful reply....Use Google map to get directions. Scroll about 10 hours in your trip and search for accommodations. Look for whatever chain you like. Look for free breakfast, if that interests you.

No experience, but there appears to be a fairly large number of hotels & chain restaurants around Cartersville, GA exit 290, which is about 10 hours out according to Google Maps..

Also around exit 5 in Chatanooga, which would be 9 hours, and around Kennesaw State University at exit 271 in Georgia, which should be about 10 1/2 hours.

We drive from Southeast Michigan to Orlando fairly often and generally stop in Macon, GA. However, it's closer to 12 hours. We generally like to get past the Atlanta traffic and stay South of there for the night.

You should get south of Atlanta, for sure. It's my #1 rule for road trips. Always get past the next closest major city so you're not fighting traffic in it the next morning.

I have made the trip from SE Michigan several times myself. In the past I have stopped for the night in Marietta, GA, in McDonough, GA, and some other towns I can't recall at the moment. Generally it depended on which exit had a good hotel deal going at the relevant time. (It was always a weekend trip so the Atlanta traffic wasn't a major concern.)

Ten hour mark will put you right around Chattanooga. :)
Keep in mind, that’s without stops.

Now, many folks suggest getting below Atlanta. That’s another two hours out. And if you’re traveling on a Saturday or Sunday, you won’t have the Atlanta rush hour issues. It might be worst if you’re traveling from Novi on a Friday. You definitely don’t want to hit Friday afternoon rush hour in Atlanta.
One suggestion. If you’re staying overnight in the Chattanooga area on a Sunday through Thursday night, don’t leave your hotel too early. Leave Chattanooga at 7 AM, and you’ll just miss Atlanta rush hour. And with reasonable stops, you’ll hit Orlando late afternoon.

If you are driving during the week definitely want to get past downtown Atlanta. Plenty of hotels south of the city.

I have driven down from Michigan solo several times. I live west of Toledo, I found my best trips thru Atlanta were the ones where I got a late start and got thru downtown Atlanta between 11 and 12 AM, stopping for a couple hours to nap in the Rest Area on the Macon bypass, and so that I can arrive at WDW early in the morning. Going home I usually take back roads and stop somewhere between Chattanooga and Knoxville.

Thanks. I am making notes. This helps a lot. I have looked at google maps and could not figure how to look at the time it took for stops and knew there had to be a way. I would love to get past Atlanta but do not think I have it in me. looks like we will be leaving on Friday am.

I live in Acworth GA, exit 277 off I 75. My sister lives in Detroit area. It’s around 10 hrs from here to Detroit. It’s takes me around 7 hrs to get to WDW. It’s about a hour to clear Atlanta from my house. Places to stop North of Acworth- Cartersville, Adairsville, Slightly South of Acworth- Kennesaw and Marietta. Chattanooga is 90 minutes away and Knoxville is 3hrs away.

If you're on a laptop, after displaying directions for your entire trip, hold the destination icon and just slide it back along your route on the map. The elapsed time and mileage will update as you move it.

I haven't found a way to do it on an Android phone.

Of course, as someone else said, the elapsed time is with no stops, so you have to add in any stops you'll normally make.
