november studio ?????

we took our first dvc in Jan at OKW 2BR (my wife and I, 3 kids under 8 and wifes parents. We loved it so much we returned to michigan and called to add on 100 pts!! my question is, our 10 year wedding anniversary is in November and my wife and I would like to stay from the 5th through the 10th in a studio at
BWV, BCV OR VWL (preferrably BWV or BCV, since we are going with the kids to VWL in January 03). However after calling MS this week the only availability is OKW. Is it common for those to be booked 5 months out for november????? what are my chances on the waiting list ????? thank you

That time is during the Food and Wine festival, Super Soap Weekend and it is NJ week at WDW. Food and Wine festival is at Epcot and Super Soap Weekend is at MGM, NJ week has NJ guests all over WDW since the schools are closed for 2 days for a teachers convention and in Nov Veterans Day falls the same time this year so even more NJ guest will be heading to WDW. BWV is a prime location for attending these events.and therefore it is harder than usual to get into BWV, especially with less than the 11 months window. No one knows how BCV bookings will be but I bet they will be as hard if not harder to get than BWV since they are a brand new resort. Why not book the room at OKW and then get on a wait list for BWV or BCV? You never know you might get lucky and at least this way you will have a room to stay in for your trip. Or can you change your dates somewhat and then maybe you can get a room at BWV or BCV. Good luck!!

That Food & Wine Fest really loads the rooms. We were on the waitlist for about 4 months trying to get into BWV. Meanwhile, were booked in at BCV and switched when the waitlist came open. I would do what the previous poster suggested. We had 2 days at OKW last week and bus service between there and Epcot was excellent, so you're not too inconvenienced. Besides, the waitlist may come thru!

You know, the more I read this board the more I HATE that I made the move to purchase DVC. My vacation to WDW has always been in November. This year I wanted to try the Dis Con. It had already become obvious that trying to use my new DVC to go to the Dis Con was not going to work. Now, I am finding out that my regular vacation choice will also be unavailable with my DVC. You know, I may end up selling it before I even use it once. I didn't purchase it to be locked into a extremely limited vacation choice. I'd rather go back to staying at the All Stars and at least getting the times I want to visit. Boy are you people making me feel sorry I bought into this.

Carl - Didn't you just recently purchase a resale at BWV? You are not going to have trouble getting a ressie at your home resort if you book 10-11 months ahead of time.

Early December is very popular, but I have ALWAYS been successful getting a ressie then (for a standard view even) at BWV when I called at the 11 month window. Yes, November can also be tough to get, but you will NOT have a problem if you book at the 11 month window. You will often find success booking non-home DVC resorts at the 7 month window (especially if you are willing to waitlist).

Yes, it will be very tough to get the more popular times if you have to make ressies at the last minute, but I hope don't make a decision to sell until you see what it is like booking your preferred times when you are able to take advantage of the 11 and 7 month windows.

I'm sorry you feel you may have made a bad decision. We are also new DVC members (feb) and I've already booked 2 trips with no problems. The first trip I booked as soon as MS started taking reservations for BCV's and that trip was for Nov. 6 during the Wine and Food Fest.
Then just 2 weeks ago we decided to squeeze in a trip to see WDW dressed up for Christmas. I called to book BCV for Dec 12 for 3 nites. I had to waitlist the first nite, but it came through in less than a week. Then 3 days ago we decided to add an extra day and come on the 11th, I called MS and was able to add that nite without a problem.
Now, granted both those trips are pretty far out, but they are both during heavy booking times for DVC.

I guess what I'm saying is that with a little planning getting the rooms you want is definitely possible. Also, I think that often times waitlists do come through. Many people who book may end up cancelling or changing their original plans.

We are so glad we finally became DVC members, that I constantly have that 'stupid grin' on my face just thinking about it.

I hope you are able to get the times you want and end up happy with your purchase.

I had no problem getting a studio just under 7 months out at BCV.

I will say I'm kind of sorry to hear ghaven's news since I was considering extending my Nov 2 to Nov 6 stay an extra day or two...but apparently this year is a special year with the way the holidays fall...that can happen any time of the year. I think you can make your November dates at the 7 month window. Give it a year and you might find you were glad you purchased...if not then sell it...the resale price should be higher within a year.
