Hi everyone!

I'm having a really hard time deciding on my families next Disney trip and just wanted some other people who have families to weigh in their opinions

In 2012 my family went to Disney in Nov and we planned on doing the MVMCP. my 3 daughters were super excited! We LOVED seeing the lights on the castle. So a few days into the trip 2 of my daughters got sick. The night of the parade we had been sitting for an hour in our spots and got to see the snow fall on Main St but 2 of my daughters were still sick and it was freezing in FL that year and they were so cold and coughing and miserable so we made the choice to leave. The parade was still over an hour away and then another wait for the special fireworks after that. We stopped and got our free hot cocoa and cookies and left. My daughter who was not sick was very disappointed.

So we also had a nice trip in 2013.
Now I have to decide if we take a trip this Nov- sort of as a "do-over" for that trip where the girls were sick
Or do I just forget about it and we take a Feb 2015 trip.

My dilemma is this would be the last year possible to take the girls in Nov as two of them will be in middle school and the school is very against taking them out of school and this also makes my oldest daughter have major anxiety. So this would be the last chance to see the Christmas special show.
This would be a shorter trip. (3 1/2 days in parks)

IF we do Feb 2015 this would be a nice relaxing week long trip. We'd be staying at 2 different hotels. And no one would miss school.

I did a pro/con list and Feb wins out. I'm having more of a hard time with the emotional aspect of letting the Nov trip go.
Logically Feb is the way to go. I'm trying to tell myself that Nov is just a parade and fireworks. But for those of you that have seen the MVMCP would probably not say that. :)

Oh one other point is we try to go to Disney once a year. If we do the Nov trip we wont be going back till Feb 2016 (so no trip at all in 2015)
I don't know if I can handle not going at all in 2015!

Ok that's the story! Thoughts?
(we took a trip this year already this past Feb 2014)

Hi,

Just a word on the weather---if you thought it was cold in November, it can get much colder in February. Sometimes it is near freezing in the morning with afternoon highs in the 40s.

Don't get me wrong--you can certainly get beautiful weather in February...but if the cold is a concern I would definitely go with November.

And one more thing--I assume you would be going President's week, which is one of the most crowded weeks of the year at WDW.

(I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, I just wanted to make sure you had all the pros and cons! I know you will have a wonderful time ahtever you choose!)

The longer trip is appealing but IMO there is nothing more special then christmas at disney and if you won't be able to go in that time frame for a long time i would do november

Thanks for the responses so far.

As far as the weather it was crazy humid and very warm when we went this past Feb. Sounds like its a crap shoot with the temps for Feb?

We would actually be going for the 5 days before Veterans Day, the last time we did that time frame the crowds were very reasonable.

As far as asking the family I'm on the fence about that. I asked my sister and she's on the fence as well! And I don't want to ask my daughters because of course they wont agree and then it can turn into a whole big thing.

UGH I'm so torn!!!!

One other note is that the time frame we'd go in Nov is a very emotional time for me and even the magic of Disney doesn't completely help so the last time we did that Nov trip it was a few days before I was able to actually enjoy myself. I think that would be the same if we go again in Nov and Disney is quite an expensive trip to not be enjoying it the whole time! :confused3

February can certainly be cold. 3 of the days we were there were cold and rainy but the rest of the time was beautiful. One thing about February, do you like Splash Mountain? That will certainly be closed for refurbishment, as will some other rides. Since February is slow season they chose that time to do refurbishments. I loved it, the weather wasn't bad and the crowds were great but I think a future trip will be at a different time. (maybe?)
Wasn't bad just was a little bummed since Splash Mountain is my husband's favorite (he was the only one in our family who had been to Disney before). I think though if I had to chose between a short November trip and a long February one, I'd chose February.

I personally would do November over February. I've been to WDW twice in Feb and both trips were cold, cold, cold. Also, you'll have higher crowds and longer lines.

Nothing beats WDW in the fall. I love the Fall decorations and the Christmas decorations and all the programs/events they have that time of the year.
