Hi everyone - have been lurking for a long time but this is my first post so please be gentle lol :wave2:

Have just booked our first trip to WDW for next year at SSR and can't wait already :cool1: We are going for 14 nights and there will be 8 of us in a 2 bed villa! We will be there over thanksgiving and just wondered if people had experience of this - is it overbearingly busy?

Thanks :)

Hi and welcome to the DIS :welcome: Nov 2011 we left on the Tues before Thanksgiving and we noticed the parks getting busier from the Sat. They weren't heaving or anything I would probably say that the Sat/Sun were 7/10 the Mon/Tues 8/10. Is Thanksgiving in the middle of your holiday? I'm sure that you can work around it because the parks probably won't be that busy either side of it. if I remember rightly most days leading up to the weekend preceding Thanksgiving were like 2 or 3. Nov is a great time to go, it's been our favourite so far. The weather was beautiful, really warm everyday and we didn't see much rain at all. in fact I think it only rained once in the 19 days we were there and that was for like 30 mins. I'm sure that you'll have a brilliant time!! Hopefully someone will be along shortly who has actually been there at Thanksgiving and can offer you some more advice! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

We left a couple days before Thanksgiving too, parks were getting steadily busier over the weekend leading up to it. Pretty quiet before though, and it should be when Thanksgiving dies down too. Maybe you could take a break from the parks over those few days and do 'resort stuff' or something? November weather was beautiful! Hot but not unbearable and we didn't see a drop of rain in 15 days.

After not going for 2 years (moved house last year,) we're finally able to go again and will be going in November, when I've booked it :cool1:

Both myself and DBF have special birthdays this year, and as we can't go when it's mine we're going when it's his, which means we will be there over Thanksgiving. So I too would appreciate any reports on what the parks are like over that weekend. I'm thinking it's best to avoid them, but wondered if they do things that are unmissable?

Something we can do in November, which we can't do when we've been in June and September is watch some ice hockey, so really looking forward to that as well.

yep been there for thanks giving a few times..:thumbsup2 The week of TG is very busy but also managable but I would def look at the busy guides to see which park to avoid. Also get in any ADR for TG as soon as you can because everything decent becomes full quickly. The crowd level just sort of starts building up from about the Monday until the day itself, a Thursday, and then you see a mass exit from the Friday and Saturday after.I suppose its only 3 or 4 days where its manic. It then empties out and becomes one of the best times to go. Remember that the day after TG is black Friday and you can get some amazing bargins in the sales.

November is by far my most fav time of the year to go...all the holiday decs start appearing, the Osbourne family christmas lights at DHS, the beautiful daytime temp, the christmas parade...wonderful stuff.:) The evening temps can be unpredictable from needing a jacket/cardi to be very warm indeed!

Have fun:cheer2:

Never been in nov so can't help but just wanted to say Welcome :goodvibes :welcome:

If you want to visit a park on Thanksgiving itself.... last time we were there for thanksgiving (2008) we hit Seaworld AND Aquatica on thanksgiving, both were dead. Maybe a freak coincidence for that year, but you never know!

And WELCOME!
