November crowd levels

How are the crowd levels the week following HHN? Our trip is loosely planned for the second week of November. We're planning on staying at RPR for the express pass, but if crowd levels aren't too bad, we may go down a level and save a few hundred dollars. We'll have 5 days there (we are buying an annual pass) so we have plenty of days to visit.

The second week of November can be very slow, but that may be during Jersey Week which can have a severe impact in crowd levels at Disney, which can transfer over to Universal. We experienced this a couple years ago and vowed never to come back during Jersey week. It’s really a coin flip with Universal as to how busy it will be. You probably won’t need express, but if you don’t have them and it ends up being busy you will regret it big time.

I suppose we can always start without them and see how it goes and if needed, add them on the next day.

You could, however depending on cost difference that could possibly cost you a ton. It really depends on how interested you are in a nicer hotel as well. I was there just a few weeks ago in what should have been a low crowd time and it ended up being too busy for us, we never got to ride Skull Island and Spider-Man was a one-time ride because the lines were just too long for us. Had we had express, we would have done them many times. Just food for thought.

Also, once you do express, you’ll never want to go back without it, so keep that in mind. We had never done express until our December trip, and when we went back in January, it was a totally different experience, for the worse. Before December, we had gone many times without it and never knew any better. Now that we have had EP, I’ll be hard pressed to go back without it.

We were there in 2016 over Thanksgiving weekend and, frankly, it was not that bad, crowd-wise. We stayed at RPR and had FOL, and the most we waited was about 20 minutes for the just-opened Kong attraction (in the express line). I don't believe you'll have crowd issues the second week of November.

We always stay RPR the week after Halloween when we go. Jersey week for us so kids don't miss school. With express pass it's a nice relaxed vacation.

So should my family go the second week of November to avoid Jersey week? I had been planning on the first week of November but can change if needed....

I would say that if you can go the second week instead of the first full week (which is always Jersey Week) then you should go the second week. It will definitely be less crowded. The week between Jersey week and Thanksgiving is the best week to go IMO.

If you will have express pass, the crowds will not really be a problem. You can use mobile order in a lot of places to eat, so long lines will not be a problem there.

If you do drop express passes, when you go would matter more.

I'm going 2nd full week in November. We wanted light crowds but also wanted to catch the first night of their Christmas celebration which is on 11/16.
