Curious as to when Christmas decorations go up in November. Also would be open to any recommendations on when to go in November (not this year). Thought about the week after Thanksgiving but not sure. Any advice on crowds in the month of November would be great. I know Jersey week is sometime - not sure when. TIA!

I can't remember the exact dates that decorations start going up although I do think it's fairly early in November. As far as going the week after Thanksgiving, we have done that before and found it to be a wonderful time of the year to go.:)

Thanks for the info. If you flew- what day did you arrive? I'm concerned w/booking airfare around Thanksgiving.

All the decorations will be completely finished by that week. They start the Christmas decorations at MK after the last MNSSHP, which this year is the 1 of Nov & MK has to be finished by the first MVMCP which this year is the 12th, so once MK is done they focus on the rest of the properties, if they haven't already, so by the end of the month EVERYTHING will be decorated.

We always go over Thanksgiving. During this week, you will notice they keep adding to the decorations, especailly at Epcot and AK. For the most part, they are decorated. MK is already decorated. Also the parades and shows have a Christmas theme to them. I think Epcot does not start with the different Santas out until the day after Thanksgiving. Also the lights at MGM are the best to see, and I know they are up at Thanksgiving but not sure when they go up. The weekend after Thanksgiving is very busy. :thumbsup2

Osbourne lights start the week before Thanksgiving. Everything but Epcot will be in full holiday mode. I'm flying on Airtran this year for $119 each the Friday before Thanksgiving, and $59 each on Thanksgiving Day. I'm not real happy with them (they moved my departure flight up 6 hrs and I wasn't notified-checked it myself-so I'm losing a whole day in WDW), but you can't beat the price. The weekend after Thanksgiving was more expensive.

Alot of the Christmas Decorations were up the day after Halloween! We went ot MNSSHP and the next Day to Animal Kingdom where Christmas music was playing, the big Christmas tree up, decorations throughout AK and Characters dressed in their Christmas finest!

We stayed for the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on Nov 13th, every park was decked by that point. MK went from Halloween to Christmas in two days! It was amazing how fast they transformed the park from Halloween to Christmas!

Thanks for all the replies. Perhaps it is best to go earlier in November - I'll have to do more research on the flight prices based on the different weeks! I believe the first week is Jersey week but I'll do a search to make sure. We really want to see the Christmas decorations & go to Mickey's Christmas Party. How early should be book? We booked our Oct 07 trip in May 07 (due to having to reschedule our May trip due to sickness) and didn't have a problem getting a room or ADRs. Thanks again.

We usually leave the Sunday after Thanksgiving; better choice of rooms as many guests are leaving. Airfare from Illinois has been very reasonable; anytime from Thanksgiving Day and after. It is a wonderful time to visit; once, we went during this time, we have returned every year since. Can't wait for our upcoming trip!!

Our last two trips were the week after Thanksgiving, and it is a wonderful time to go. WDW is in full Christmas mode, and the crowds are relatively light. It was warm enough to swim as well. We are going Thanksgiving week this year because now we are all in school. I expect it will be much more crowded. Also, we fly SW, and it cheaper to fly to FL than home to NY the weekend after Thanksgiving.

We've done Thanksgiving week twice before and decided to do the week after this year. We're leaving the Sunday after Tday. Room rates and airfare are cheaper too!:woohoo:

Thanks everyone - I think we've decided November it will be unless I can't wait that long & go in May :goodvibes! Sounds like a great time to go!

Have to put my plug in for the week of Thanksgiving. We have been going the Friday before and staying thru Thanksgiving. It gets crowded the closer to the end of the week, but manageable. May try something different next year and go the week after. We always go to MVMCP the Friday before. Worth the extra $$

The Osborne lights begin on November 13th this year....many of the decorations will be up by November 12th as this is the first MVMCP.... which I will be at..YEAH!!!!!!
