November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Your redeye doesn't happen to stop in SLC does it? We are taking the redeye on Delta on Wed night/Thurs am too. We're staying at AKV and going to AK on Thurs and EPCOT with the inlaws on Fri (the only thing they've done in WDW is one day at the MK years ago).

What do we like to do besides cruise? How about go to the parks :)
We also like planning trips. I like stamping and scrapbooking, DH likes college football. We enjoy some hiking. I love taking DD for walks in her stroller at night.

Shauna,
we may be at AK on thursday too. I will keep an eye out for you. As I said I will have my list with me to look at photos. So that helps me to spot people.

I too love to make scrapbooks!!

Kathy

I like to wakeboard and dive for abalone. Abalone diving has moved ahead of wakeboarding as my favorite non-disney activity (easier on my fifty one year old knees).:cool2:

Wow it got quiet here this afternoon.
We were all chatty this morning but now its all quiet here?

I have finished my housework and laundry, plus walked the pups twice. So now I can sit down and relax a bit.

Hope everyone is having a great day,
Almost time to party!!!

We're still on the road, so haven't been checking in much. DH is a skier, and I like to scrapbook and write. He spent the morning and early afternoon in the College Football Hall of fame, I spent it in a HUGE scrapbook store - oh my! If anyone ever gets to South Bend, Pages of Time is amazing!

Home on Friday! Then I promise to get in here more often and help keep us bumped up.

WOW...nice to hear we have lots of scrapbookers here!!! :woohoo:

Hope everyone is having a good day. Its so rainy and nasty here.

I am already tired of packing and I havent moved a box yet. Everyone pray for me that I can pull this off.:sad2:

If it's not Disney it is probably dog related. Disney and dog shows take pretty much all of our free time.

Ok, question of the day.

Besides cruising, what do you like to do for recreation?

We love to camp, hike and ride our quads in the mountains.

Kathy

Does planning for a cruise count? I do like that, but not quite as much as cruising. For a second item, I like to snorkel (something we do only when cruising so maybe that doesn't count either). I like to go to WDW - does that count? Outside of vacations, I like to spend time with my family doing just about anything, even sitting through those sporting events in all sorts of weather!

Looks like everybody was busy posting while I was at work today.
My favorite thing in World showcase (actually anywhere) is anyplace that has the pearl diving. My DH is addicted to it. He loves to pick the oysters to see what the pearls are, and then I reap the benefits!! :cool1: Seriously, when we go anywhere and he sees them, I have to stop him and steer him in the other direction. We have taken to calling him "Diver Dan" :rotfl2: Next to that would have to be Norway.Germany and Italy.
My hobbies other than cruising and traveling, are hanging out with my grandkids. remodeling, (yep, I really like it, just hate the mess during it) scrapbooking, counted cross stitch, and reading.
We will be in Fl. the week before the cruise. We are going with our dear friends. We are going to go to the keys, that should be fun, he is a minister, and yep, I warned him about Key West. We are also going to go to the Holy Land, and an airboat ride. We are going to at least do Hollywood Studios, and maybe one other park. After the cruise we have to come home, unless I can get enough weight off to slip under Gail's bed, then I might do a back to back with Gail. :rotfl2:
I plan to work on FE gifts tonight. I am still waiting for someone to get back with me for the adult gifts. I may have to change that around a bit. We shall see.
Anyway, gotta run and get ready for water areobics. Have a good night.

Hi all

I am behind on questions...
My favourite thing at Epcot... hmmm... we kind of breezed through the world showcase what with two five year olds in tow. We had a really good chuckle at the Canadian pavilion, does that count? Those lumberjack shirts, honestly!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
Also I guess meeting Mulan in China was good, she was one of the best character experiences we had the whole week, she was just awesome with my kids.

Pre cruise plans: I am working until 8pm the night before! :scared1: We have a big big holiday season kickoff sale that day and there is no way I am getting out of working. Normally I should work until midnight that night (the stores are open that late and we sit and watch the sales come in) :surfweb: but my boss is letting me leave at 8:00. :cool1: Anyhoo... we are driving to Detroit that night and flying out at 9:00 on Saturday morning.

After the cruise, we are flying home the same day.:sad2: How boring I know. Like Tracy said though, the kids will have already missed a week of school, so... :guilty:

Hobbies: I am also a scrapbooker. :rotfl: I spend a lot of time taking my kids back and forth to karate, they are green belts and love it. We all love going to our family cottage in Grand Bend, less than an hour from here on the west shore of Lake Huron. We go up there all throughout the year, usually spend Christmas there, or some part of that week anyway. I do some volunteer work with our local multiple births association too.:dance3:

Have a great night everyone. :goodvibes

Do you breed dogs as well as show? My DH has done dog shows for a long time (as a vendor- he works for Iams pet food). We have lots of friends in the dog show world. Although, we don't breed dogs ourselves. We do have 2 yellow labs, 1 bulldog (retired showgirl), and 1 golden retriever (from rescue).

Ok, question of the day.

Well, we love to travel. We try to go to a new National Park every year. This year we'll hit three! Petrified Forest NP, Grand Canyon NP, and...US VIRGIN ISLANDS NP!!!!!:cool1:

I also love to scrapbook. I am way behind though. I haven't even finished my DLR/Club 33 trip in 2008, or last year's WDW/DCL trips! :sad2:

I'm also busy with the kids' sports. DS is in karate, and DD is a soccer player. DH referees soccer and helps with coaching as well. This is the first year DS hasn't played- he's taking karate 4 days a week now so there really isn't time. And did I mention that I am on the PTA board? And I hold a job? :rotfl:No wonder the DIS is my only downtime!!!

Christine

Good morning cruisers,

Traci your right we have a load of scrappers on board this time:goodvibes
Sounds like some dog lovers too. I also have 2 rescue dogs:love:

So already we can see many things in common with each other.:thumbsup2

I will wait today and hopefully one of you will post a question this morning. If not I will post one this afternoon sometime. I want everyone to be able to contribute if they want to our questions.

Quiet around here today. Cool mornings but hot afternoons. You can feel fall is coming in the cool mornings. I always hate to see summer go but this year thats ok because it means the cruise is getting closer:woohoo:

Vickie,
The HolyLands is really a cool place. They have so much packed into a small area it is surprizing. We have been there a few times with company. I'm sure you'll all have a great time.

Well off to do the breakfast dishes,

Kathy

It's quiet here today. I was waiting to see if anyone was going to post a question, but since nobody has, I will...

Today's Question of the Day is...

What is one of the Disney items that you collect?

On our first cruise, we started collecting the Mickey & Minnie beanie/plush (you know the ones that are about $12 or $14). We got the traditional Mickey & Minnie, the cruise Mickey & Minnie, the Castaway Cay Mickey & Minnie, and have since added Pirate, Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Valentine's.

Okay, I am a few days behind...

Besides planning for the cruise (reading DIS boards), I like to read. Our family loves to go swimming, so we tried to make it most weekends this summer.

Food at the parks...I don't really have any favorites. We haven't been to WDW since 2005 and even then it was only 3 days. We have never done the "full Disney", spending a week or more getting to do it all. We have been sort of waiting for our youngest to be old enough to enjoy more rides. We do get to Disneyland every year or so since one of my closest friends lives in the LA area. I like DL because you get many of the same rides in 2 parks that are right next to each other. When we went to WDW in 2005 we did enjoy the restaurant in Norway where they have the Princess Lunch. The food was very good there!

What Disney item do I collect...T-shirts! I just can't resist buying them when they are $2.99 at the Disney Store Outlet! Everytime I go, I buy them "for the cruise". Since this cruise has been in the works since I was pregnant with DD3, we have more t-shirts than we can possibly bring along! Some have been hanging in the closet for 2 years! Clearly, I have a problem! Someday, you will see me on "Hoarders" buried under a pile of Minnie Mouse shirts!

Boy to answer this one I would have to write a novel:lmao:
Ok DH always buys bill caps and Disney pirate t-shirts.
But i have been collecting Disney for years.

Greg built me a huge china closet just to display my stuff and i can fill it easily with all Disney items. I think it is about 9 feet long and close to 7 feet tall including the decorative top on it. Shelves only go about 6 feet high.

Ok here goes:
I collect Disney globes usually the musical ones
Disney pins both the parks and cruise and have most displayed n a cork board.
I also collect Disney salt and pepper shakers with all different characters.I have about 50 sets.
I have about 25 individual figurines of characters they average 5 inches in height. I have them grouped by stories when I can. example Peter Pan and Captain hook are together. Alice the white rabbit and cheshire cat are together.
I also have several pieces of the blown glass they sell at WDW. I have dragons and castles , Mickey and more.

I also collect the large figurines. I have 5 right now but will add more when one strikes my fancy. They usually sit in front of the large screen TV around the base of it. My favorite one is of Donald wearing a santa suit and beard and chip and dale are at his feet with a gift.

I also collect disney stuffed characters. I have too many to name. All the usual to the little green martians from ToyStory.

My dining room table is set up like a Pirate party. I use the bandananas from the ship to put on their heads, pirate chocolates from the ship and the menu that looks like a treasure map is under king Louie's arm as he swings from the chandelier over the table. Some have eye patches on too. I change their outfits for different holidays. As you entered my house they are the first thing you see. So we never get to sit at our table in the dining area.;)

I love Disney so much that Greg painted silouettes of Mickey, Goofy and Donald on our pool deck:rotfl2:

I also have a zillion odds and ends that was just something cute having to do with Disney sitting around. Like a princess crown, a Goofy talking telephone, waste basket with Mickey on it.

Ok I have bored all of you long enough.
Blame Shauna she asked what we collected.:lmao:

kathy

We collect Disney pins the ones that are on lanyards. I also have so many disney minnie and tinkerbell shirts.

Tim has also picked up a couple of tinkerbell figures that are the Disney Traditions-Jim Shore collection. They are very pretty.

I knew we'd get some good responses to this question. Isn't the point of the questions to get to know each other better. Now we know more about Kathy.:goodvibes

We collect Disney movies--which I'm sure most of you do as well.

We also collect Disney games--Disney Scene It, Disney Trivial Pursuit, Disney Checkers, Disney Candyland, Disney Chutes & Ladders, Disney Uno, Disney Sorry, and just got Disney Pictionary.

Now that I have a child, I am finding that I like to collect Disney things for her. We have a Disney Store in Utah, but it is about an hour away. Anytime we find ourselves in that county, we make a trip there. It was fun to be there a couple weeks ago. I like to collect Minnie clothes for DD. I think I've gotten enough things for her now that she could wear a different Minnie outfit every day on the cruise. I was so used to her growing out of things quickly last year, so this year I have a bunch in different sizes, but they all seem to fit.

I think you should post a picture of this china cabinet!

The only thing I collect from Disney is fun memories with my grandkids.
