November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

We are on Verizon, does it count for there too?

Your question made me check AT&T again because it has been 5 years since we have been to the USVI. It is still considered part of nationwide in US Puerto Rico, and USVI.

I checked Verizon site too! It looks like there is a 1.99 a minute for voice & data. I would call and make sure but it looks like AT&T must have all the towers!:confused3

I have been looking for a trip report for the Disney Magic since it returned from Med... If anyone else find one can you let me know. I like to read and see what other think...

Well, the closer we get to the cruise less I want to go all out pirate. I may wear some khaki shorts or Jeans and a white pirate like shirt and bandana. Was going to order a costume but kept delaying. I do still want to order my DD her pink pirate costume. I am afraid:scared1: what our luggage will look like after a week in Orlando and a week on the Magic.

The NBA lockout ruined my plans to try and see either the Heat preseason game or the Season Opener against the Bobcats. Oh well!:mad:

Hi everyone,

Well, I have to say that I'm very proud of myself because I went way far out of my comfort zone and chose to make our own FE! I've been dragging my feet on making it because the more I thought about it, the more intimidating it was to me because I'm SOOOOO not crafty AT ALL!! And, I don't sew! But, because we are now so close to when we leave, I decided it's too late to try to buy one online in case it doesn't arrive on time! So, my procrastination forced me to make it (which was my original plan, and now, I'm very happy I chose to make it!)

But, today, I ventured to Michael's (not sure if you all have that store where you live... it's basically a large craft store), and I bought some fabric that was on sale, I found these little canvas tote bags that they were selling 3 for $1.00, and then I got glitter sticker letters, I found some Disney stickers with Disney characters on them, and I bought some sparkly ribbon... and at home, I already had a glue gun.

So, I took the measurments from the New Sew FE just to make sure I make it the right length and width. Then, I cut the fabric and folded the fabric in half, so is doubled over, if that makes sense.

Then, I cut off the handles of the little canvas tote bags I bought so they turn into little pockets. Then, I put the Disney stickers on each of the pockets. Then, I put the glitter letter stickers on each of our pockets spelling each of our names. And, then I had extra letters, so I was able to spell "our family" at the top.

Then, I used a glue gun to glue the sides of the fabric together (since it's doubled over), and I used the glue gun to put the sparkly ribbon on as the border of the FE, and I used the glue gun to glue the pockets onto the fabric.... and Wa-La!!!!

And, best part about it.... This FE only cost me $14.00 to make!!!! It took me about 1 - 1 1/2 hours to make. It was actually really easy to put together.

And, Eric, and the kids love it, and I do too!! Eric was stunned that I made this because I seriously never make things!

Kathy,
Your FE came out great!!! Be sure and take a picture of it once you hang it up by your door.:goodvibes

I hope to make one this weekend. FE gifts are all taken care of here.

For those wondering about the FE list. I still have one couple to hear back from, then it should be complete and I will send it out to everyone for one last time.

If we have late arrivals it will be up to each individual if they want to give a last minute gift or not.

Good night all,

Kathy

Good morning fellow cruisers:goodvibes

Anybody thinking about what we will be doing in 4 weeks from today??

:woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo:

WOW your FE looks great!!! I can't wait to finish mine!!!

SO it's Thanksgiving weekend over here!!! I am starving for our Thanksgiving Ham!!! (We don't have enough people for a turkey). MMM Ham, Potatoes, Stuffing and the best part PIE!!!!!!

Hehe does anyone else have fun Thanksgiving traditions?

Your FE is beautiful, Kathy!
I really enjoyed the video-I had read her trip report but this was even better-loved the backround music. It's hard to believe in 4 weeks (!!!) we'll be on deck. I was hoping to watch the webcam today, but we have to go out in a few minutes.
Happy Thanksgiving, Canadian Disers! Will they have the Christmas decorations in your stores next week?

Jenny,

I use to have all the family over for dinner but now I have passed the torch on to my oldest daughter and we all try to gather at her house.
She lives just over 100 miles away from us.

Enjoy your ham. I agree the pie is the best part of dinner!! I usually volunteer to make a couple pies to take.

What are your family traditions Jenny?

I found a pretty good cruise review video. It shows where they now dock in St. Thomas from the top of the skyride, and how far it is from the new and old dock. It is about 8 min into the video.

How funny - We just finished the trip report that ends with this video! If anyone is interested, it's: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2670964 We've enjoyed watching and dreaming - and it's the trip report where we learned about the restaurant/bar in St. Maartin!

We've been working on our FE gifts this afternoon. Sadly, the postal service didn't get part of it here, so we're stuck until at least Tuesday (since we don't have mail Monday because of Columbus day).

We did check out the webcam - the Carnival Dream just left and it looks rainy and icky out today... I guess, though, if you're leaving on a cruise - who cares!! You're on vacation!!

Happy Thanksgiving to our friends north of the border!!!!

Michelle
