Morning all,

Hope everyone is having a great start to their week.

I caught my sons cold so i am just laying around today to try and get rid of it before our cruise the end of this month.

Good thing about being retired, I can lay around all day anytime I want and nobody cares.;)

Back later to see whats happening around here today,

Kathy

Darren, I saw on FB where you were asking about shopping at the ports we are going to.
At St. Thomas there are 2 places the ship can dock. One dock (dont know the name) is right at Havensight mall. this is thelargest shopping area with over 100 stores. Here is alink to it. You just step off the ship and your there. Also at the backs ide of these stores is the road where the SkyTram is. Just a block from the stores. More shopping , food a bird show and great views at the top of the tram ride.

http://www.havensightmall.com/

2nd dock has a few stores right at the dock area. Its just a couple miles from Havensite mall so its really easy to catch a taxi there to Havensite mall is you want. Just be sure and set the price before you get in the cab.

There is another shopping area across from where thye use to tender the ship. I think 30 stores up and down small side streets and a small open air market. I'm sorry I just cant think of the name of the area right now.
In your daily Navigator paper there will be a shopping map and there is a shopping program you can attend on the ship, usually the afternoon before you arrive at that port. They give you tips about shopping and sometimes discount coupons.
If your busy and can't attend that program you can view it on your TV all evening.

Any open air market places you find you can often barter the prices down. Just check merchandise over well for missing buttons or zippers that done work.

Vendors Plaza is an open ari market and fun to browse through. Here is a write up about it. Again any taxi will take you there. Not too far from the port.

Vendors Plaza

In Charlotte Amalie there is an area called Vendors Plaza where vendors set up small booths, tables and tents from which they sell an assortment of souvenirs. Vendors Plaza is located across from the Emancipation Park and Fort Christian. There you will find silver jewelry, t-shirts, tropical print wrap skirts, shirts and dresses, imitation bags and watches, trinkets and more. There is also hair braiding, a photo op with a donkey, a coconut-for-sale stand, local food vendors and ice-cream stand.

Vendors Plaza is generally open Monday through Saturday from about 7:30am, when the vendors start setting up, until 5:00pm when they start packing up for the day. On Sundays, only a few vendors set up but this generally depends on the number of ships in port; more ships usually means more vendors.

Across the street from Vendors Plaza is a Co-op store that sells locally made crafts and goodies.

Hope that helps for shopping at St. Thomas

St.Maartin has a couple stores right at the port but its really easy to get to the shopping area. Just walk down the walkway towards the port area and on the left you will see a large sign that says Water Taxi.

Go there and buy tickets for roundtrip on the boat. I think its about $8 per person round trip. You can go back and forth as many times as you want.
Anyway they give you a wrist band as proof of payment so leave it on until your done running around.

The boat is right there, you just hop right on and it zips you across the end of the bay to the shopping area. maybe a 5 minute ride. Its a great photo opportunity of the Fantasy because you'll wind up right across from her when your done.

Its a small nice dock where they let you off. There is a msall beach on both side of the dock area where you can rent chairs and umbrellas if you want to relax for a bit, plus drink servers will come by all the time for orders, if you want one.

Or just walk straight ahead and you'll have many blocks of shops straight ahead and right or left.

We have found the best buys were to the right down several blocks. They are small shops, some just tents.

Anyway if you go to the far right and shop your way there(it goes back into town a few blocks every direction.) you wont have to walk all the way back ot the dock where you got off the water taxi. They have a 2nd stop at the far end where you can get on to ride back to the ship.

If you decide to do a beach day on St, Maartin check it out first, many are clothing optional beaches there.:scared1:

One beach is very popular because large jets fly right over you as they land and take off. Never been to it so I dont know if its clothing optional or not. But it is very popular.

I'm sure someone here will know the name of it.

Just make sure what ever you decide to do, to check your watch is set to the right time, allow plenty of time to get back to the ship. Unless your on a Disney excursion they will NOT wait for you if you're late. We have seen people come running up to the ship as we were pulling away many times.

Also people have been left behind before on our cruises. They page them and try to see if anyone knows where they went but the Captain will leave you.

Now if you're on a DCL excursion and maybe traffic holds you up or a flat tires the ship will wait with no problems. It has waited for us twice, so things do happen. Usually really bad traffic after 3 p.m. on these islands.

Hope this helps a bit. please ask if you have any questions,

Kathy

JUST LOOKING AT THIS PHOTO. OUR CABIN LOOKS LIKE THE FARTHEST POINT ON THE BACK OF THE SHIP:rotfl2: WE HAVE THE FLAGPOLE ON OUR VERANDAH. LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE ABLE TO CLIMB THE FLAGPOLE AND HANG SOMETHING OUT THERE:rotfl2: DO YOU THINK IF ITS DARK I CAN HANG MY CANADIAN UNDERWEAR OUT THERE? AS WE ARRIVE IN PORT THOSE ON SHORE WOULD SAY HMMMMMM THEY MUST OF HAD A WILD PARTY IN THAT CABIN.:rotfl2:[/QUOTE]

Our cabin is on the deck below you to the right (the 1 port hole windows).

Only 323 more days! Just booked today for myself, DH and grandson age 4. I know the little guy will have a ball, and Grandma and Grandpa will be able to get in some relaxation while he is at the Oceaneer's Club. Planning on flying in Friday night, staying at the Hyatt, and departing from the airport on Saturday to the cruise terminal. We did that once before and it worked out great! Looking forward to seeing everyone on board. I know it will be a fabulous trip.

Welcome! I am pretty sure we will book a room at the Hyatt, too. May I ask what kind of rate you got?

Hello Everyone!

Started a thread n the "other" forum that will remain nameless and Kathy showed me the error of my ways!

I am Barrie and my DW is Charolette. Our three DDs are Bailey (13), Haley (9) and Cassidy (9). Yes, Haley and Cassidy are twins.

We booked two adjoining interior cabins on Deck 8 and will be flying in on the Thursday before the cruise. Plan on staying in Orlando and driving to the port on Saturday morning. Going to spend three days after the cruise in Orlando to shop and see some of the sights.

Looking forward to being a part of an active cruise forum!

Well I have all pictures I use downloaded onto my computer so its easy for printing them off onto Magnetic paper which comes in standard size sheets.

I sized them to fit the page.

If I want small pictures(magnets) I down size them as long as the quality is still there then copy and paste as many as will fit on a page, print it off and then cut with scissors or I have a nice cutter for scrapbooking . That way I have many if I want to give them as gifts.

Magnetic paper does cut easily with good scissors. Some people who make odd shaped signs use a Cricket machine which costs from $100 to $300 per machine.

always do a practice printing on regular paper first and be sure and do a mirror image before printing for any writing or it will come out backwards.

I do have many Disney themed pictures I am happy to share is anyone needs some to choose from. Just send me an e-mail and ask for them. I will send them right out to you.
my address is below. Just put door signs on the subject line or I may delete you not knowing who you are.

My parents gave me the name Barrie and I am quite proud of it. Johnny/JC is just my Log-In name. So the short answer is Barrie.

welcome to the group. Just curious, are you from canada.

Was it my log-in name, the fact that I am really polite or that I use EH when I talk, that gave it away?

Yes, I am a proud fourth generation Canadian from sunny Alberta!

Looking forward to NHL hockey starting up on Saturday, even though everybody involved is getting paid way to much!
