November 28 dream cruisers

Yes we are. I can't believe I just found this after searching all over the place. Anyway there are 4 in my family and my parents will be joining us.

We just booked our cruise for Nov 28, on the Dream. This is the first time doing a 3 night. We are looking forward to it.

I know very little about FE, I will need to do some looking into what is involved in the FE, but from what I have seen so far it looks fun. Can you give me some information on FE?

Hello!

My family is also on this cruise. Its our first cruise - we chose a three day to get our feet wet so to speak.

I would be interested in doing the FE exchange from what I have read about it. :goodvibes

There are several threads explaining what an FE is so I will just give a brief overview. Outside the cabin is a hook in the shape of a fish, seahorse or star. People attach a bag or series of pouches (you can find a photo of one online or on the main board). Through the dismeet people choose to participate and leave gifts for people in their FE during the cruise. The rules on the gift giving is left up to the group itself as well as how many people participate in the exchange. All that is expected is the if you receive you should give as well. It is a bit of work and can be excessive if the list gets too long but at the same time it is a lot of fun for children and adults as there is the constant surprise of what is waiting for you. When I first did this people gave gifts that were connected to where they are from. It has since evolved in to hand made items or store bought objects. Sometimes the list is divided in to days so you don't get everything the first day but other times it just is given when you can.

That is my quick summary. Hope it makes sense. If you have questions please let me know as we have done this at least 4 times now. I don't mind organizing the list if people want me to.

Thanks for the info. I have been looking FE information up on both facebook and pinterest and Yes we would be interested in participating. We are traveling with some friends and they are booked in the room next to ours, I will see if they want to do this too. It is their first cruise. We were on a Disney cruise in 2006 and I don't remember seeing or hearing about FE back then.
Thank you for offering to organize it.

Quick question, How come this thread is not listed on the list of the DREAM 2014 cruises? It took me a while to find this and I wonder if it would help others if it was on that list.
Also I saw a facebook page for Disney cruise meets and one for Disney cruise FE. Should we add a link to this page to the FE facebook group page?

I actually posted a message to Irish Cowboy to try and get this up on the list but have not seen a response. We could do a facebook page. If you want to make one that would be great. I do not have a facebook account but I could use my husband's.

Thank you for posting it there.
no worries about the facebook, it seems more people use this site anyway.

Actually what I have found is that the 2 sites get rather confusing. It is easier to see what is happening with facebook yet I have found that sometimes people don't have an account or choose not to for privacy reasons and can be excluded. I have done one cruise where both disboards and facebook were used regularly and that was really hard to keep track of. As long as this is working I am fine to keep it as is is I just hope this gets posted in the first page of the meet group soon.

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :beach:
Have a great cruise!

Using the Disboards works better for me as I don't have Facebook either, and would also have to use my DH's. :rotfl2:

The best part about using my husband's facebook was that everyone thought they were talking to him which was funny since he had no idea what was going on. At the same time he got a lot of credit for stuff (I arranged a private mixology class for the Group).

The mixology class sounds really cool - I would so make sure I got credit for that one! :)
I read his Facebook sometimes to see what few people are up to, but a lot of his page has people I have no idea who they are ... they are a lot of people he did Facebook games with. :confused3
So I don't post to his page. He keeps saying I should get my own. So far I have resisted that. I am afraid it would become too much of a time sink for me.
and I already spend quite a bit of time perusing the Disboards ;)

I stay away from facebook for privacy reasons. The disboard is enough for me and even that is hard to stay on top of.

I thought of arranging a mixology group for this cruise but we have no sea days to do it in and so I don't even know if they would put it together. The only day I could see is the first day when we board the ship but that seems hectic. We are also taking this cruise for my mother's 70 birthday and although I can see my father getting in to it I am not quite sure about her.

For the FE I will need people to either post or PM me the following information:

Stateroom number
Who is participating (ie. DW, DH and at least the age and sex of children. You can give names if you are comfortable or not)
Allergies to foods
Other information that has at times comes in handy include favorite Disney Character, yes or no to alcohol,

We would love to participate in the FE.

We are a family of 4.
Myself DW- alcohol - yes
DH - alcohol - yes
DD ( Nicole )- age 21 - loves the Little Mermaid
DS ( Leo ) age 12

We are traveling with another family and they would like to participate in the FE also.
DH - alcohol - yes
DW - alcohol - yes
DD (Kallista) - age 13
DS (Matt) - age 11

Thank you again for organizing it. This will be our first time doing the FE. I have seen posts where some groups are up to 50 rooms. Since this is such a short cruise and our first time, I would prefer not to be part of such a large group. What would you suggest so that the group is not so big?

At the rate this is moving I doubt this is going to be a big list. If it gets to 50 rooms we will divide in to smaller groups so don't worry too much about it. I will need your stateroom numbers as well. When it gets closer to the date I will post copies of the list so you know how many people there are.
