I'm taking my son who will also be in the 11th grade out of school for 5 days and just a little concerned. But, I've done it before and the teachers supply all his work ahead of time which helps. I think a family vacation is just as important. Enjoy your trip!
We're going from 11/15-25th---my daughter will be in 10th grade and will miss 4 days total...I too am not worried about the first 2 days of Thansgiving week as they won't be doing anything important and alot of kids will be out as well for exact same reason. I know she can handle missing 2 days. They do have policy at her school - they have paper that ALL teachers must sign off on and there's a box to check for vacation as part of "family harmony" whatever that supposed to mean. In other words, they recognize the importance of having family time together, although I will say they tell all parents at beginning of every school year of the importance ofmaking sure all missed work is completed and handed in to each teacher. They want the kids to be responsible. And for most part they are, if they see a pattern where this is not happening the teachers will NOT sign off on it. So its all kind of works. We are so excited to go, I just wish it would hurry up!!
