NOVEMBER 2012 Trip Planners Part 2~yes there IS another!

I'm taking my son who will also be in the 11th grade out of school for 5 days and just a little concerned. But, I've done it before and the teachers supply all his work ahead of time which helps. I think a family vacation is just as important. Enjoy your trip!

We're going from 11/15-25th---my daughter will be in 10th grade and will miss 4 days total...I too am not worried about the first 2 days of Thansgiving week as they won't be doing anything important and alot of kids will be out as well for exact same reason. I know she can handle missing 2 days. They do have policy at her school - they have paper that ALL teachers must sign off on and there's a box to check for vacation as part of "family harmony" whatever that supposed to mean. In other words, they recognize the importance of having family time together, although I will say they tell all parents at beginning of every school year of the importance ofmaking sure all missed work is completed and handed in to each teacher. They want the kids to be responsible. And for most part they are, if they see a pattern where this is not happening the teachers will NOT sign off on it. So its all kind of works. We are so excited to go, I just wish it would hurry up!!

Most of my planning is done as well now I'm starting to thinking about silly stuff like - what cute nail design can I do for the trip? Anyone have any good pictures? I'm not artist so it will have to be fairly simple and something I can hopefully show the manicurist and say - "this please!":lmao:

In our school district students are allowed to go on vacation during the school year w/out penalty. They understand that parents can't always take their vacations during the summer and they try to accomodate those that have the desire to take the time during the school year. The only time they frown upon this is the week ending each semester  The parents do have to discuss the absence with the principal and everyone involve has the opportunity to express their views on the effects of the absence. The absence is labeled as an authorized UNexcused absence but won't be a factor in determining grades unless the make-up work is not completed. This will be the first time my Freshman son will be missing school for a vacation so hopefully it will run smoothly pixiedust: They normaly don't have much going on leading up to a Holiday so he shouldn't have a problem with getting his work finished before/after our trip at home.

Good morning. I have taken a couple days away from disney and have come up with this refined schedule. Thought? Most of the meals that say lunch and dinner, are a 1 or 2 lunch and a 8 dinner so no lost park time. Breakfast is 8 or 83o before park opens.
My updated schedule took me a few days to complete. Putting it together for a group of 11 was challanging. I dont think that I will do it again. I had alot of ppl tell me in the last few days that they wanted this meal and that meal. I had to step away because it was stressing me out

I know there are Disney nail art/mani threads here on the DIS. Try searching using Disney manicure or Disney nail art or some such thing. My dd and I were reading a couple of those threads a month or so ago. We are experimenting with simple do-it-yourself designs using the nail pens.

Your plan looks great. You have put a lot if time and energy into your plan. Unfortunately with that many people it may be impossible to please everyone. Please don't stress yourself out. You need to be able to enjoy yourself too.

Oh I am fine with what we have.... but I put the brakes on and told everyone that every place is too full and we cant switch :lmao: I think it looks good:) Just need to wait for CLP packages and Dessert party so I can be done :rolleyes1

Why don't you just call them back and tell them you want to cancel the package and just do room only with the discount. Give the CM the dates that your friend will be there and and ask how much extra those nights will be. Then purchase your tickets through Undercover Tourist and get exactly the number of days each of you need.

I am too afraid to do that :rotfl: :sad2: The pin that we booked under is expired and we got a better deal than the pin code indicated (the pin said 30% of Sun-Thursday, we got 30$ off on the whole stay:thumbsup2 including two weekends). We're afraid if we try to rebook we won't get the extra savings and I can't stand to see those savings disappear on weekend days that are more expensive  The CM on the phone also advised us against cancelling and rebooking.

But believe me, next time we do this, even if we don't have any plans to invite anyone else, we are going to NOT GET A PACKAGE ;):lmao:

Can we join I am going with 2 of my sons 12/1--12/8!

So I am also planning for a large group (10 total!). After my H decided we needed to upgrade to the deluxe dining plan, I changed around some of my reservations -- here's what I have so far... any suggestions? Did we miss anything that should NOT be missed for our first family trip? We tried to do a lot of character experiences because our girls (Ages 6, 3 & 1) will really love it and buffets are usually easier with the little ones. I stalk dining reservations daily, so I'm always on the look out for something better!

Let me know what you think!

Monday Hollywood Studios
B- Arrive
L- Mama Melrose 1:35p
D- Akershus 8:40 (leaving Epcot after Fantasmic!)

Tuesday Magic Kingdom
B- Chef Mickey's 7a (we are EARLY risers, even on vacation)
L- Crystal Palace 1:30
D- Crystal Palace 5:10-- hoping to drop this for Be Our Guest :) If BOG isn't open we will keep the dinner ressie and go somewhere else for lunch.

Wednesday Epcot
B- Akershus 8:10a
L- ((using snack credits at Food & Wine festival))
D- Coral Reef 7p

Thursday Rest Day & Hotel (half of the group is going to Harry Potter World)
B-Cape May Cafe 8:40a
L-??? (prob eating at AoA)
D- Spirit of Aloha

Friday Animal Kingdom
B- Tusker House
L- Flame Tree BBQ (our planned quick service unless I can get an ADR between now & then)
D- We'll be at MVMCP and plan to grab something quick so we can take advantage of the park being less crowded.

Saturday Magic Kingdom
B- Cindy's Royal Table
L- Crystal Palace -- maybe. It's the day we leave, so we might do a quick service instead so we have more time in the park.
**we will leave the park after lunch to head to the airport**

My son just requested another mother/son trip for this fall, so we are beginning to plan a trip for early/mid November. No firm date yet as we are trying to be flexible in case of discounts or Free Dining. So far it looks like we will arrive Nov 7 or 8 and depart Nov 17 or 18.

Could we be added to your list to notify of discounts?

Also, by time of travel I will be 64 and son will be 46. Our spouses work in retail and cannot travel that time of year so we generally do something together. Any suggestions as to where to stay? He and I shared a room at POP in 2009, which was fine. But I'd like to either step it up a bit and stay at PO or CSR - OR - stay at POP and book a couple of nights at AKL so he can experience that and maybe we could do the safari tour and/or one of the chef meals. (Son is a chef that has his own Artisian Cookie business).

Thanks for any input/suggestions.
