I called WDW a little bit ago to get package quotes and the lady I talked to said that Disney doesn't normally do free dining in the fall
Why wouldn't they? It's the slowest time! Last year they had it, because I had it. She said they normally announce free dining in Aug/Sept. Has anyone heard anything?

It shows that Free Dining became available to the general public in late August last year for select dates between: 10/1/11-12/15/11

I have a trip planned for DD and myself for November 9-17. Already have ressies at BCV's for Sunday- Friday, but I'm looking for an AP rate for the 9 & 10Th. Maybe we'll stay at WL for those days- who knows???

7 months out would be in April timeframe, right for booking. So really it is hard to say, since the availability will change a lot between now and then probably. Holiday weeks are tough too. What size room and resort are you wanting to check and I can look for you now that the online availability is open now!

I have been playing with the idea of only booking restaurants that don't require the credit card guarantee. On every trip, we've had to cancel at least one reservation due to someone not feeling well, and it looks like so far Disney has been very strict on applying the cancellation fee.

There are still quite a few restaurants to choose from, and we'd get to experience some new places. But I would certainly miss my beloved Crystal Palace.

Without a doubt, I'll be scheduling less reservations, and we'll plan to eat more counter service.

Good idea! We couldn't get away with that either though. But we've only cancelled like two ressies in the past 3 trips, so I think we are pretty good. Good idea though- especially for families that do cancel a lot.

BUT, he'd rather not go in November..well, that's when my vacation is and I'm NOT going in the dead of Summer when it's hot and overcrowded! I want to do Christmas time in disney. So, now, what do you all think? Is it doable to plan a disney vaca now for Disney with ADR's right around the corner?

Yeah- still plenty of time as others have said, you can't make ressies until May, so you have lots of planning time!

Oh....Hello again, Friends!

Ok, ok......I switched up our ressies from ASM to POR....We stayed at POR back in Sept 11 and we enjoyed it a lot. (edit: we may also allow my daughter/14 to bring a friend)

We have an arrival/check in date of 11/25/12 - 12/2 depart.

Now, look deep into your crystal ball and please tell me the great savings and offers you see/expect to see for our arrival dates?

We did get the free dining last time and that was a HUGE help...

So...what could we possibly expect for an arrival date if 11/25, which should be the day or day after everyone who visited for Thanksgiving is leaving...??

Well, I had my post op appointment today. Doc said I should not be in any pain related to the surgery (but I am), and she released me to go back to work. It's not the going back to work part that bothers me. It's the going back to work in pain part. I think she thought I was just angling for some extra time off. Anyway, tomorrow I'm going back to work so no Dis-ing during the day for me.

Back to our regular scheduled program...

Am I the only last holdout on making reservations? I just can't decide if I want POFQ or POP. Well, it's not really about what I want because that would be the Poly or GF. It's more about what discounts may be offered. No discount = POP. Discount = POFQ.

Oh! and OT again, but I lost 16 pounds since my surgery 6 weeks ago!! Now to keep it off and lose some more!

I have been so busy with my grocery store's Dollar days sale this week and getting ready last week lol I havent had much time to DIS but I have one more week of this DD sale then back to disney planning! I saved a whopping $451 on my grocery trip yesterday! Coupons are really like paper money! Who knew this?!? LOL I am still saving money in my account

Well, I called Disney this morning because I have been thinking about adding two days on to the end of our trip. Of course, I waited too long and there's no availability at POR with my pin code.

The lady in reservations was so nice - she said not to worry. She said there are "typically a lot of discounts offered this time of year" and that we should have no problem booking the additional days under another discount. I also love this - she told me not to feel bad about calling back as often as I want to. Even if I felt like calling "twice a day to check for new discounts" that would be fine. "It's what we're here for."

So I have permission to stalk Disney for a discount. : )

The slippery slope that I'm on is that there IS availability for the whole stay at the Polynesian with my PIN code. I'm sitting on my hands so I won't call back and upgrade. With my current discount, that would be more than twice the price of my current reservation. Ouch.

On another note, our neighborhood Blockbuster is going out of business so we stopped in today. I found a copy of the 50th Anniversary Edition of Beauty and the Beast, so I'm watching that with my little one while I fold laundry. I also picked up the newest Pirates of the Caribbean on BluRay. The only movie I was hoping to find but didn't was Peter Pan. I've decided that is my ALL TIME FAVORITE Disney movie and I WANT IT.

I have been lurking on this thread but finally am ready to commit, as I booked our trip today! I got a package PIN, and booked POFQ for November 13 - 18. I'm sure that will change, but at least I've got something on the books. My close friend since childhood and I are going to celebrate our 50th birthdays at the World, and I am so excited! We looked at some other options, but since we've both always longed to have some time to ourselves when we've been there with our families, we decided this is where we want to be. I was hoping we could go a couple of weeks earlier and hit F&W and the Halloween party, my favorite, but not to be, so it's Christmas party instead. I went one year the week between Christmas and New Year's, but it was so crazy, I didn't really enjoy it, so it will be nice to enjoy all the holiday stuff at our leisure.
Funny thing is, I've got two other trips to plan - going to Williamsburg over spring break, and 3 weeks in France this summer, but THIS is the trip I'd rather spend time thinking about!

Wow, i am so sorry she didn't believe you about the pain. Is there anythingn else you can try and do? YOu definitely don't want to be in more pain and working. My heart goes out to you. YEAH on the 16 lbs though, that is amazing!

Welcome and what a fantastic trip you have planned! Should be a fun week to go, we are booked then too, but arriving on the 8th or 9th.

Received 30%PIN today--- just booked Wilderness Lodge...

It was for 30% off all values, all mods, but only two deluxe resorts on the PIN offer were Wilderness Lodge (have stayed there twice & LOVED it) & the Animal Kingdom Lodge, we chose courtyard view- 8 days/7 nights, parkhopper tickets, for me & my 17 year old son from 11/10 thru 11/17/2012 for $2673. The PIN offer was for the following dates....11/1/12-11/19/12 and 11/24/12-11/30/12.

Glad to be going back. We chose Universal Studios this year & stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, GREAT vacation, but glad to be heading back to the Wilderness Lodge for Christmas !!!

I feel like there are only a couple of us who haven't gotten pins. We are still not booked, and I'm feeling discouraged. I know it will be a great trip even if we have to stay offsite...just can't get as excited about it.

Even if you don't get a pin, public offers are coming... hang in there and be flexible and I'm sure you'll get a great deal!

I just returned from my first trip without eating at any sit-down restaurants. I have to say it was more carefreee and relaxing just going with the flow instead of planning our time around the ADRs.
That's not to say my future trips will always be counter service but I do plan on eating at more of them.

I even made 2 ADR just in case but cancelled them after a day.
Crystal Palace is one of my favorites too.

I just called a CM to alter my reservation a bit. I asked if there were any other discounts I was eligible for. She said not at this time but to "check back in about 2 months to see what maybe available such as Free Dining."

I understand! I've been starting to wonder if we will be able to go at all. I'm holding off on booking for a few more weeks in hope that I will get a pin.
