FE's are pretty simple. Everyone that wants to play signs up - with cabin number. At some predetermined cut off date, the lead person compiles a list of cabin numbers. Everyone on the list is honor bound to drop something in the fe of every other person on the list.

Some people do one gift per cabin, some people do seperate stuff for kids, it's up to the giver how they work it.

It's up to the giver if they wish to put their names on their gift. Gifts can be hand made or store bought and range in degree of "elaborateness" from a baggie full if little necessities (rubber band, safety pin, bandaid, zip tie, paper clip, clothes pin) / imprinted pencils / sweets to hand made magnets / paperbag scrapbooks / luggage tags / key chains, you name it.

There are instructions on the general cruise board on how to make FE's and ideas for FE gifts.

I can see we have a very active and interested thread here.

Actually, this trip dh & I are traveling as part of a party of 12 with 4 children and a teen ager among them. None of the others belong to the DIS, so I'm thinking we'll just skip the whole FE thing and make gift baskets for 'our' kids.

It's still a good ways until our cruise, hopefully things will get hopping soon enough!!! Don't write off the FE's just yet!! And if you still decide not to do them, please still come to the meet & greet and gift exchange!!! Even if you don't want to participate in the gift exchange still come say hello!!

I was wondering if anyone knew if our ship will be decorated for Christmas when we are on it?

I've asked this before on the main page and based on past years the terminal should be decorated, the ship will be done by the end of our week and nothing on CC that week. I want some decorations in hopes of taking a nice picture for our Christmas cards this year.

Sadly no I will not be taking charge of the FE's, I am not involved in them and we don't typically participate anyway, so I am not really interested in that responsibility I enjoy doing the meet & greet and I have alot of fun with the gift exchange, but unfortunately, the FE's are just not my forte!

There has to be SOMEONE who would like to take on the task of FE coordinator!!!

I'll make ya a deal though, if no one has come forward to take a lead on the FE's by the end of June, I will step in and give it a whirl! Until then I will attempt to keep an updated list on my PC of who is going to be involved in them in the event someone does come along I can simply forward them the info and if not, well I will have given myself a head start!!! Sound good!?

So I need to ask again so I can get my FE list assembly started who is in on the FE's??

Gift Exchange Info

Meet & Greet in the Promenade Lounge Deck 3 at 3:00pm on Embarkation Day!!!!
We will meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3:00pm before the muster drill and sail-away to get to know one another briefly, put names to faces, and for those of you who would like to participate, we will also have a gift exchange!

Here's how it works:
Each family will bring a small gift to represent the area they are from, aka their hometown/state For example you could bring something from a local store like maybe a trinket from an artist in your hometown or if you are into sports bring something to represent your favorite home team. Last cruise on DCL, the gift I received was from a very sweet lady from Texas, she brought some local spices & coffee, along with a little Texas BBQ cookbook. It was really cool! It's just a simple gift nothing extravagant, that is unless you wanna give me a free cruise

No seriously just something light and fun.

At the meet & greet, I will have name-tags to hand out where we will put our DIS name along with our real name, so that we can identify one another easily Then for each person or family who has brought a gift, when you come in find me, I will be handing out some lei's & up at the bar looking like I am in charge : Also I'll be wearing a name-tag At that point I'll write down your name & put it into a bowl/hat for the drawing part. I will also jot your name down on a list of who is actually participating in the exchange. That way everyone who brings a gift will receive one in return You hang onto your gift and have a seat, get to know some other people, have a drink, just relax

Around 3:30pm, which should give everyone enough time to mosey on down, we will begin the exchange I will call a name from the list and that person will come up pull a name from the drawing pool and exchange gifts with the person whose name they have drawn.

Very simple lots of fun and it ensures that each person who brings shall receive And no one is pressured into bringing something, it's completely up to each family, but please do come and hang out with us either way!!!

Can't wait! It's gonna be sooooo much fun!!

Whew thats alot of work Ok since I have put some effort into, I suppose I have just decided I will happily head up the FE's as well, seeing as how the majority of posts on our thread do seem to come from me I am on here at least once a day, so it will give me something to be looking for Please remember if any info is wrong let me know and I will correct it I am actually looking forward to setting this up, keep in mind it is my first rodeo with the FE's so be kind! Nahhhhh!! I figured that since I do seem to be on the boards uhhh just about everyday, and seeing as how I don't have kids.....I figured I do have the time and I don't reallllllllly mind so what the heck And yeah WHERE THE HECK IS EVERYBODY!!!!

I did do a bit of updating to the list. I compiled our cruiser list & FE list into one, notating the FE participants with an asterisk * Beside their name. Hopefully this will keep it simple enough. Hope everyone had an awesome day!!!

I can't thank you enough!! I have to check and see if the rest of our party will be attending or doing the FE's, but i gotta tell ya that this is starting to make this trip more exciting for me already!!

Of my DW and my three other trip on DCL the last two were on the Magic!! But besides going to CC twice on this trip, which is the ONLY reason we booked it, the FE and the get together has me more excited!! And count us in for the gift exchange!!!
