:disrocks: you people are so awesome! :grouphug:

This cruise is just going to be so awesome!

I am thinking I might not be able to pass on the banana boat!!! Too much fun! Maybe I can get some kids to go with me???? But I think I may just wait and see how it all pans out. Sometimes that 's just as much fun!

I am going to book a spa thing - Oh where can I fit that in????:bitelip:

Thanks, Jackie! We had 8:15 dinner on our last cruise and thought it was perfect, so I think I'll email the TA and ask her to request that again.

By the way, we had a great stay at the Sqauw Pointe Hilton. It is not new, but well maintained, and the grounds are beautiful. If anyone asks you for a recommendation of a place to stay to just hang out at the pool for a few days, I would put it on the list. Good mix of activity for the kids and quiet spots with shade for us old folks!

I was talking with my mother last night on her last cruise my farther and mr sister went on the Chaccoben ruins tour, is that the one you all are doing? And if so she had nothing but good things to say about the tour and the guides I asked if she remembered the name of the tour guide but no such luck. We ( DW and I) are going horse back ridding, my eldest is swimmming with the dalphins (depending on her grades)

Good news for those interested yet not booked on the David and Ivan ruins tour in Costa Maya. They are currently booked to capacity for the Nov. 14th tour, but if you have contacted them and expressed an interest, they are keeping a "wait list" of people. Ivan also said they are looking into the possibility of opening up another tour group for that date. If they are able to do this, they will let us know so that we can pass on the info. to those on our thread that may be interested. So, keep your fingers crossed (hear that Alisbarc, Mom2of2, and RayRing) :listen: :thumbsup2

Oh look..........formal portraits with Capt. Jack....this one is from the Wonder:

Wish they sometimes wouldn't do the "stupid surprise" face... would like to see him 'regular' just to see how cute he really really is... shame on me.

Mars

SOMETHING YOU WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN------EVER!

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular!

This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th when

Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification

Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye.

Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m.and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.

Share this with your children and grandchildren.

NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN

Lucky you - sailing before you know it!

BREAKING NEWS REFUTED!!

Comments: Mostly true -- in 2003, that is, when this message was first composed and circulated via email. It was not true when the identical text circulated again in 2005, nor when it reappeared in 2006. The event has come and gone.
On August 27, 2003, the orbital paths of Earth and Mars brought them to within 34.65 million miles of one another -- closer than at any other time in the past 50,000 years. Though Mars never actually appeared "as large as the full moon to the naked eye," the red planet did vividly dominate the night sky for a time, making 2003's "close encounter" a spectacular, "once in a lifetime" event indeed for astronomers, space enthusiasts, and ordinary observers alike.
