November 1, 2014 Fantasy Eastern Cruise

:welcome: Mary! We sailed on the Fantasy last December to SJ and really enjoyed it - the ship and the port. Actually, we liked it so much we booked a back to back, with this being our first leg!

Taking my mom shopping today but that is the only exciting thing on our docket. Have fun!

Gail and Jan,

Funny how things work out, and you run into people who know you, or about you. My wife worked at Bronners for about five seasons, with the artists who do the custom paint on Christmas decorations. MOST of the people who work at Bronners are seasonal employees. Our farm was just two miles south of Bronners, right on the highway. We used to always set up a big fall market with a pasture full of 'serve yourself' pumpkins and Halloween docorations. Gourds, straw, Indian Corn, corn stalks, the works. If you were near Frankenmuth in the fall, you had to stop at our place for pumpins...

We moved to Florida seven or eight years ago, and opened a tractor dealership, now I work for the State of Florida at the Forest Service, maintaining the radios that keep us talking to the guys who put out the wild fires, here in south Florida.

Nice to see some folks from 'back home'...

It really is a small world - and so long as they don't play the music, I am OK with that!

Wow, it is a small world after all! (Sorry, Gail!! - couldn't help myself!) - although I do like that song. The Sherman brothers created the song and we had the opportunity to meet one of them on a DVC member cruise several years ago. Interesting guy.

We are back from West Virginia. Had a great time with our grandkids and their parents. Back to work today - although it is only 30 days until I officially retire!!!! :cheer2:

I guess what we will be celebrating on the Fantasy is our 30th anniversary - didn't think of that until now! On that cruise, I will be 63 (yikes - where has the time gone???) and DH will be 66 (almost 67). Hope you don't mind hanging around us old folks! Second marriage for us - our son is 42 and our daughters are 40. This year, our 6 grandkids range in ages from 11 to 7.

There's nothing like being on one Disney cruise to beget another one :-) My daughter and I just got off of the Fantasy on a Western Caribbean cruise last Sat, and while on board, we booked the the Nov. 1 Eastern. The Fantasy is a beautiful ship, and we didn't get much time to explore it the way we wanted to. We had three Port excursions (not counting Castaway) and we saw the Mayan ruins on two of them. Seeing these was something I had wanted to do my whole life, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Nonetheless, we did not get the chance to explore the ship the way we wanted to and we are glad that we will have three at sea days on the Nov 1 cruise, so we can relax and have time to explore the ship. We were also excited about the different itinerary to San Juan, and chose this sailing for that reason. I look forward to chatting with you all over the next 17 months.

Mary

Welcome Welcome!!

Here in the midwest we have gone from very dry (last year) to I do not think it is ever going to stop raining.

So this morning I am trying to figure out the safest route to work. Wish me luck. Lois

Jan,
When we sail I will be 67. My daughter, with whom I will be cruising is 42 and my son is 37; my husband (who, unfortunately does not like to travel) and I have three grandkids ranging in age from 11-7. You and I have at least a couple of things in common :-)

Happy Saturday everyone! DH is off on a hike with his scout troop so I am just relaxing with my coffee, still in my jamies - LOVE Saturday mornings!

Have a good day everyone!

It is again Monday! So I thought I would start my week off by giving this thread a little bump back up to page one! Of course I should be getting ready for my day not setting and messing with the computer!!

Sounds like most of us have something in common, at least by the time of our cruise, grandchildren!

Lois, my work day starts at noon and I should get off the computer now and get ready for work. But, 4 Mondays from now, my work days will be a thing of the past! Every day will be a Saturday for me. Although, I have agreed to work a few hours each week and hoping to be able to do it from home.

Tom, do you get back to Michigan often, yearly, etc.? If you do get back to Michigan before 11/2014, perhaps Gail and I and our DHs can meet up with you and your wife.

Just booked this the other day. It will be me, DH and daughter will be 12 at the time of cruise. It will be our 6th Disney cruise. We've been on the Fantasy (1), Dream (2), and Magic (2).

We have several friends that we've met on other cruises that will also be on the cruise. I'm really looking forward to this itinerary!

Hi we are booked as well, it will be me, DH and DD who will be 9 when we cruise. Looking forward to seeing Krisgils and family:banana::yay:

Jan,

Diane and I are headed for Michigan the last Friday of this month. We should be in Birch Run in the afternoon on Saturday to visit with my son and his wife. We are holding a memorial for my mother, who passed away early in March, on Sunday afternoon at my sisters place outside Midland, and will be leaving for Lynchburg, TN on Thursday the 4th of July (guess what there is to do in Lynchburg...) Then a trip back to South Florida on Saturday/Sunday.

Tom

We'll probably be up to Michigan this winter around Christmas, as my Son and his Wife just announced that she is 13 weeks along and the new baby is due in December. That will probably be a 'shorter' trip (not the full 10 days I usually take) up to visit with the new member of the family and back to Florida before I get too darn cold.

Tom, congrats on your new grandchild! Lots of fun, aren't they???

Well, we are officially one week closer to 1 Nov 14 when the ship leaves, and I'm glad of it. It must be something about my advancing age that makes the days and weeks and months slip by so quickly and easily, almost unnoticed. How did it get to be the middle of June already????

Tom, Dave and I often comment on how fast time goes by - the days, weeks, months and years! I officially retire on June 28 (although working 2 afternoons a week at the office after that), and i can't believe I am of the age to collect Social Security. Where does the time go?????!!!!

Anyway, according to our calculations, our 11/1/14 cruise should be here real soon!

Happy Father's day to all you dads! Dave and I are heading to Saugatuck and Lake Michigan and, hopefully, take the grandkids to the beach.

We are booked as well. I'm calling it the 2, 3, 4 birthday trip. Our son will turn 2 on 11/1/14, Ashley turns 30 on 11/3 and I will turn 40 on 11/8. So this itinerary was perfect. The Fantasy is the only ship we haven't sailed on. Magic (3), Wonder (3), Dream (1). Also booked on the Magic in January to check out the refurbishments and celebrate our Anniversary. We took our son on his first cruise in April for an 8 day itinerary that was great. We are ensuring he grows up with his sea legs. Look forward to posts about the cruise to help the time go by.

:welcome: F&A and family! Love that everyone is celebrating a birthday - how awesome is that? DH and I will be turning a huge milestone next year (:crazy2: 60) plus our 35th wedding anniversary is next year as well. Another 'where does the time go' - how did I get to be this old???

Take care!
