Nov/Dec weather...any clues?

We have booked to fly out on 27th Nov. We were last in Orlando in Feb 04 and the weather was very mixed, everything but snow! We were frozen on several days and even tornado warnings at the coast (but the sun shone too....sometimes, fortunately on our day at Discovery Cove). Has anyone been late Nov/early Dec, having had 2 Feb. trips with very different weather I want to avoid packing the entire wardrobe!

PS Has anyone found nice place to take two older kids to of an evening (12 and 15), we haven't done much of that sort of stuff and I know some places have a minimum age limit?

Having been only once in the winter months I know I'd be packing something to cope with any kind of weather if we went at that time of year again! At the end of November / beginning of December I think past weather trends would suggest you'll be more likely to have good weather than in Jan / Feb but I guess there are no guarantees

Last year beginning of November it was shorts from morning till night.
A couple of years ago end Nov/begin Dec it was also great. I recommend layers.
Bring a fleece or a bodywarmer for the evenings, maybe a long sleeve T-shirt for cooler days. Do they do those zip off trousers in the UK, then you've got long trews (with lots of pockets) for the morning & evening & shorts for the noon hours... You get them in sports shops.

With the weather nowadays there's no telling what you will get!

Remember, if you're staying at a Disney property there will always be someplace you can do laundry.

Been several times in Nov/Dec and the weather can be a little unpredictable. More often than not dry and warm enough for shorts in the day, but occasionally you will get prolonged rain and sometimes quite cool days especially the mornings. Pack summer clothes but bring a jumper too. Humidity low though and "the holidays" (period from Thanksgiving to New Year) is a great time to be there.

I've been a couple of times at that time of year....In early Dec 2000 it was warm and sunny (shorts/t-shirt) every day, with a couple of showers during the 3 weeks I was there, but only lasting an hour or so. The evenings were cool, we needed a jumper or light jacket.

However the following year, again it was hot and sunny every day, no rain, but the evenings were also very warm- I had taken a denim jacket with me but it never left the suitcase!

Sorry can't help with your 2nd question- but most restaurants are family-friendly. Or you could take them to Disneyquest and leave them in there for the evening if it's not your cup of tea!

As everyone has already said, plan for every eventuality. It will probably be nice and sunny, but you can get very cold snaps. The best thing about that time of year is that there is very little rain.

If your kids are adventurous you could give Pleasure Island a try. There are only a couple of clubs that are off-bounds to under 21's, most will be fine. It is worth the admission just to visit the Adventurers Club. My children love it.

Thanks for all the weather tips, glad to hear we shouldn't expect much rain, last time our Dollar car leaked like a sieve and we paddled in it all the way to St Pete's and back as Dollar hadn't got a car free for us to exchange. Torrential was the best description!

We haven't done Disneyquest before, it hasn't seemed our 'cup of tea' but with a 12 year old Playstation mad Son the virtual reality should be popular and I suppose the adults could always sneak off and find something civilized to do in Downtown Disney?

Adventurer's Club at Pleasure Island sounds good, will try that out too...thanks! Past trips the kids were younger and we were so busy cramming every day with parks from morning to night that we were far too tired to go out of an evening. This trip should be different with the kids that bit older and also the parks not open so late.

We found the weather December just gone to be downright chilly some days. I think we were unlucky as the Weather Channels said it was 15 degrees below average for December! But I would definitely pack some warm clothes. Here's hoping the weather's better for you
