I'm trying to make a decision on when to go to WDW. We have reservation for mid-Nov at the BLT. I made the reservation with a hope for either Free Dining or Room Discount. (We got a room discount in 2012 at the. BLT, so. I assumed it was likely this year too). Anyhow, BLT was excluded from the Free dining. On the day the offer was announced I tried to switch to either the. Beach or Yacht Club. We need a 1BR and want to be in walking distance to a park or on the monorail. There was nothing available at either. I keep checking but nothing. My ADRS, although not exactly how I would like them as many were hard to get and I had to take what I could, are built around us staying at the BLT. Lastly, I highly doubt if there is a room discount, it will apply to BLT. Without Free Dining or a Room Discount our trip is quite a bit more $$ than we can afford...even with a discount it would be a stretch but we were willing to spurge a little.

So...now I'm thinking of canceling and rescheduling for May 2016. I may be able to get a 1 BR at Beach Club and better schedule my ADRs.

I've I've been trying to decide what to do. I really wanted to go in Nov to see the Christmas decorations and for MVMCP. It would be a great kick off to the Christmas season. My DD 8 still believes in Santa and I think it would add to the magical childhood memories. She is also still into princesses but also likes pirates. Not sure if in May when she is 9 if she will still be into the princesses. Maybe Bibbidiboppity would seem babyish to her. On the other hand, May is a beautiful time of year. The pools/water parks are sure to be hopping in the warmer weather. It's a great start to summer and so deserved after a long New England winter. Although I guess the prices will be higher in 2016 so maybe the savings in rescheduling would be that significant. Ugh!

What would you do? Our only trip to WDW was in April. We probably won't be back for years after this trip. Is Christmas really that special there?

We went last year November 7-15, and it was perfect! The weather was just right and the crowds were very light. There were a lot of rides we just walked right on. We also did MVMCP and loved it! My boys were 8 & 3 and they had a blast! We stood on Main Street for the Christmas parade where we were "snowed on", definitely puts you in the Christmas spirit! I'm a nut over Christmas so I may be a little biased. We're coming for a short trip this October, my husband wants to try the Halloween party, but my next big trip will be in November again. I've never been in May but I definitely recommend going in November.

Thanks you amytaylor2. I like the idea of walking on to rides!

FrozenDuck....how do I go about renting DVC points? Would I lose my current ADRS? Would I be able reserve FastPasses 60 days in advance? Thanks you.

We've only been to Disney once- 2nd week of Nov 2013 and LOVEd it! Weather was wonderful (got to swim almost every afternoon), the Christmas decorations were up / going up and it was just beautiful!
For us, we did look into May as a possiblity for a trip (memorial Day wkend/again-school schedule) but the weather just looked waaaay to hot & humid for us.
We are going back this year- again in November, but over the Thanksgiving holiday (so my ds doesn't have to miss much school). Looking forward to MVMCP and Osbourne lights this time! So excited and can't wait to return!!
I'm sure you'll enjoy either time- but Nov w/ the Christmas spirit was wonderful! :)

We have done both Nov and May and would hands down choose Nov everytime! After our May trip, I vowed to never go again when it is so hot and humid. For us, the heat really made the kids more tired. But if the heat doesn't bother your family, than May might be a great time for you. It's personal preference. Nov weather was amazing...Warm enough to swim, yet not hot at all. Seeing the Christmas décor was an added bonus! We loved the Osborne lights at Hollywood Studios.

I love seeing all these endorsements for November trips. We just extended ours and will be there Nov 5-11 this fall. It's my first time going in a non-summer month so I'm ready to some non-sweltering weather!

A few points I hope you'll find helpful. I LOVE BLT! Been to both a studio & 1BR. Love the layout of the BLT 1BR. You would have 2 bathrooms unlike BCV.

As a fellow New Englander I find May very hot. I've gone every year except this year for my birthday May 6th since 2006. We also go usually go in August for a family trip. I find the heat of May more challenging than August. Going from about 40 here to 90 is harder than 80 to 95.
